Join us as RaceVermont.com hits the trail in the 2nd annual Sugarworks Trail Run at Shelburne Sugarworks and Four Season Outdoor Center. We're making significant changes to how we're going to run this race (no pun intended). Steve, from Shelburne Sugarworks has created a brand new 5K loop - not the same course we have used in the past that you had to run twice, but a continuous 5K loop. We will be offering that course along with the original 2.5K course with the goal of keeping distance between our runners. Choose to run or run/walk the 2.5K race, or run the 5K. The course is a rolling hills run/walk through the woods on the beautiful trail system that Shelburne Sugarworks has developed. There are no huge uphill runs, but it's not totally flat. Racers may either race in-person with the group on Saturday, August 8, or virtually (any time between noon on 8/8 and 8/31/2020) AT Shelburne Sugarworks, or virtually from anywhere between August 8 - 31. Racers can present their race bib at Shelburne Sugarworks for a free hand crafted maple ice cream cone. Flavors are to be determined on race day.
Because of the logistics of keeping our racers safely distant, we will begin this race at 8:00 am rather than at 9:00, and regrettably the kids' race will be cancelled for 2020.
New rules will apply. For example,
Race bibs and t-shirts will be available at Fleet Feet Sports, 77 Pearl Street, Essex Junction, Vermont on Friday, August 7 from Noon to 6 pm. Because we will no have an awards ceremony and post-race raffle following this race, all raffle prizes will be given away randomly to those who check in at Fleet Feet on Friday before the race. You MUST be registered by 8 am Friday morning to be entered into the raffle. Prizes that are not picked up on Friday will be added to the raffle for our next race (the Charlotte Covered Bridge 5K/10K & Half Marathon).
Race day check in will be open starting at 7:30, Saturday, August 8. Prior to race day, you will receive an email letting you know when your starting time is (we are going to use rolling starts based on race pace/expected finish time). Please do not arrive any earlier than 20-30 minutes ahead of your start time in order to help keep the number of racers standing around to a minimum.
Racevermont.com is pleased to offer, and HIGHLY recommends the use of RaceJoy - a GPS tracking system for Android and iPhone users. Why use it?

There will be NO parking at Shelburne Sugarworks in order to allow for plenty of space around racers and their fans. Instead, there will be ample parking just east of Shelburne Sugarworks at the practice fields for the Buccaneers. Look for the Shelburne Sugarworks sign at the entrance to the field. It's only a 4-minute walk to the sugarhouse from this parking lot, but please be careful walking. Walk as close to the edge of the road and stay alert. Directions to the race can be found near the bottom of this page.
First, second, and third place male and female winners of both the 2.5K and the 5K trail runs will each win a prize. Due to COVID 19, we will not have an awards ceremony following the race; therefore prizes will be mailed.
Age group winners will have a choice of picking up an Age Group Winner pint glass at Shelburne Athletic Club once results are posted online, or we will email them a $10 discount off a future race with Racevermont.com.
Immediately following your finish, present your race bib to Shelburne Sugarworks for a free, DELICIOUS, hand crafted maple ice cream cone. They'll punch the bib and return it to you. Please proceed to your vehicle as soon as possible after you finish your ice cream and maintain social distancing.
We cannot thank you enough for your support during this pandemic. We value you more than you know and we can't wait to see you out on a course soon!
Should this race get cancelled due to extreme weather or by order of the governor or other government official, you will have the option to either defer your registration to next year's Sugarworks Trail Run, transfer to this year's virtual version of this race, or transfer to another Racevermont.com race of equal or lesser distance. We do not offer refunds for unattended races regardless of who cancels the race.
