Evergreen Challenge

Been looking for a race to challenge yourself? Can you do a 5K in your sleep? Well, what about 650 miles? Enter: The Evergreen Challenge. 

This isn’t your grandmother’s race (or maybe it is… all ages welcome, and I’ve seen some BA grandmas). We have concocted a six-month Washington State trail challenge. You will run all over Washington…in spirit (physically in spirit. Not the running part, that is actually happening). Let me make sense of the madness: While all of us would like to physically run these routes, it’s not really the type of thing you can decide to do on a Friday and be back by Monday for work, which is why we are bringing you the experience virtually. It will be all the fun of a real race, but you won’t have to worry about getting eaten by a bear when you get up from your tent to pee in the middle of the night.

You can choose from three routes: Elwha, Kulshan and Tahoma – 283.5, 430.4 and 681.5 miles, respectively. You have six months (July 1 – Dec 31) to complete the distance, logging your miles each time you run. There will be designated milestones along the route, and your registration will include beautiful 5x7 postcards of those locations to inspire you. If it inspires you to run faster/further, feel free to use these postcards as bibs. But you won’t need to fashion them into a medal, we have that covered for you.
