HOW IT WORKS

This is a Virtual Challenge, which means participants can complete the challenge from anywhere in the country or even world. The intent is not that participants will actually follow the route outlined on the map, but rather they will log miles in a variety of ways in whatever location they choose. They will then visit their account on the RunSignUp.com Pasco History Tour Virtual Challenge website and will upload their miles completed. As participants upload their miles their marker will progress along the virtual route map. When their marker reaches specific checkpoint parks, that checkpoint will trigger an email to be sent to their inbox which will explain some of the history of that particular park. Once they have logged and uploaded the full 43.5 miles and completed the challenge, their medal will then be mailed out to the address on file or, for those who live nearby, the medal can be picked up at the Recreation Services office the week after completing the challenge.

What counts as miles? The good thing about a virtual challenge is that you get to decide what miles you will or will not upload and count toward the challenge goal. The goal of the challenge is not to win a race but rather to get people up and active and to help them learn a little about the City of Pasco. Below is a list of activities you could count toward the goal, first are those that would be counted mile for mile, the second is a list of energy conversion activities:

  1. Mile for Mile Activities:

    • Biking (Outdoor, Indoor, Spinning)
