We are excited for the 5th Annual Sun Fun Color Run!

Thank you for taking part in the LIVE Sun Fun Color Run, happening on Saturday, March 4th at Carrie Blake Park

Please take a minute to read ALL of the following, which contains important race day information and safety protocols. 

Event Date: Saturday, March 2nd, 2024
Event Location: Carrie Blake Park, Sequim, WA
Event Parking: Details will be released soon 
Event Start Time: 5K & 1K  - 11:00 AM. The 5K will start first and then the 1K will start directly following the 5K
Your Starting Corral Time: Check your Registration - 
Bib Pick-up: You can pick up your race bib on Friday, March 1st at Barhop Brewing in Sequim from 4pm - 6pm. You can also pick-up your bib starting at 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at Carrie Blake Park by the start line. 

PRE-RACE INFO: 

BIB Pickup:
BIB Pickup will be available Friday, March 1st at Barhop in Sequim, WA 4pm - 6 pm. You can also pick up your bib anytime starting at 9:30 AM at Carrie Blake Park. All we need is your name to collect your race bib. If you would like to collect for others to avoid groups, we will be happy to accommodate you. 

SWAG & Gear Check:
All swag can be given out before or after the race (at the finish line area).  If you would like to collect for others to avoid groups, we will be happy to provide you with others' swag as long as you have the bottom tear-off from their bib. 

WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING GEAR CHECK, SO BE SURE TO LEAVE ANYTHING YOU DON'T NEED FOR YOUR RUN IN YOUR CAR. 

STARTING YOUR RACE:
There will be a mass start for both the 5K and 1K run. We ask that the faster paced runners start at the front of the line. 

ON-COURSE
Directional signage will be placed on the course for both races (see map below). The courses are predominantly shared; to ensure you run your race, please follow the signage specifically your distance

**There will be one water station at the 5K turn-around point. If needed, please provide and bring your own water. 

POST-RACE

There will be a presentation of awards to the overall male and female winners of the 5K run. There will be ribbons for the top 3 places in each age category. You can scan the QR Code on your race bib to see if you placed in your age category. If you did, please go to the awards table and pick up your ribbon.

Do I need to be a runner to do this?
Of course NOT. The Sun Fun Color Run event is all about a color crazy day with friends and family. You can run, walk, crawl, or cartwheel if you wish!

How is the color administered along the course?
You will see smiling faces along the course whose main goal is to douse you in colorful powder to ensure that you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line. Every color station has a different color theme. 

Is The Color Run safe?
The health and safety of our participants and our employees has always been at the forefront of our minds and actions. Thorough testing has been conducted to ensure the safety of our materials and their application. We are committed to staging safe and secure events.

Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?
The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful, and making sure to wash your color run items separately from your other laundry. 

How does the color affect the inside of cars?
Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, or a change of clothes just in case.

Do the Color Zones affect runner vision? Or breathing?
The color powder used is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. Our bright colors are a combination of cornstarch and dyes. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our color throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by. Some Color Runners opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths.

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the color zones?
To be totally safe we always recommend covering cameras/phones with a protective dust wrap. Those colorful powder particles are sneaky and the City of Sequim is not liable for any damage that might be done to your camera!

Is The Color Run timed?
The 5K is timed the 1K is not timed. 

What happens if there is bad weather?
A little rain (or snow) won’t stop our Sun Fun Color Run! It even makes the color brighter! 

Are Strollers allowed?
Yes strollers are allowed in the event. If you have any questions please contact race director. 

Are animals allowed in the event?
No. Due to the safety of all of our participants, we ask that you leave your animal friends at home for this event. 

What if I don't want any color on me? We understand that some people prefer to not receive as much colored powder on themselves. While we cannot guarantee that you won't get any color on yourself, if you prefer to be doused with minimal colored powder, please stay to the side of the color stations.

2024 Sequim Sunshine Festival Schedule of Events

Plans are underway for a full 2024 Sequim Sunshine Festival on March 1st & 2nd.  The planning committee is hard at work putting together two days of family-friendly events that Celebrate the Sun and shake off the winter blues.  This schedule is subject to change and plans finalize, so please check back for update. Details will be released as soon as they are confirmed.
