FREE Smokey Bear Children's Run
Place
W329 N846 County Hwy C
Delafield, WI US 53018
Description
Experience a beautiful fall run/walk at Lapham Peak State Forest while enjoying the wide, well-groomed trails.
The 5K course will tour the middle level of the park. The 10K course follows the outer perimeter trail. The children's Smokey Bear Fun Run is FREE THIS YEAR, with the course circling the pond at Homestead Hollow. Walkers can stroll on the 2.5K paved accessible trail suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, or take the stairs to the tower and/or visit the popular Butterfly Garden and Hausmann Nature Center on the way back to the Homestead Hollow start area. Enjoy free treats after the run/walk in our picnic shelter. Participants will receive a long sleeve t-shirt and custom-designed Lapham Peak awards for run winners. Smokey Bear children can purchase an optional $5 t-shirt. Colorama is a major fundraiser for Lapham Peak State Forest improvements.
A 2026 WI DNR vehicle sticker or $10 special event parking fee is required for parking.
The 10k and 5k runs are both timed events with podium prizes awarded for overall and age groups. Walkers will be treated to a more casual style of an untimed morning.
*** Please arrive in time to pick up your number and t-shirt at the Trecker Lodge near Homestead Hollow. Bring your cell phone to the registration table to assure a quick registration process.
Thank you in advance for being a part of our day and the reason this park is the beloved gem that it has become.
