Description
Join us for the first annual Avery’s “Walk-Walk”. This is a family 5K run/walk through the Boerner Botanical Gardens to raise awareness of resources for families battling childhood cancer.
Avery’s Story:
Avery’s 5k Run & “Walk Walk” was created so we could give back to others during their difficult journey. We want to offer them time to be a family with no outside worries. We know we can’t take cancer away, but maybe we can help bring them some comfort—at least for a little while much like the comfort we received.
Avery’s Story:
Avery was diagnosed with cancer on 2.23.18. We later found out she had rhabdomyosarcoma. After a courageous battle with rhabdomyosarcoma she passed away on 6.6.19. Avery battled through chemotherapy, radiation, numerous tests, and many days in the hospital. During the long, lonely days in the hospital, one of Avery’s favorite things to do in her own words was to go for “walk walks” around the MACC floor. We made many new friends during those long “walk walks”. Our family received so much support from family, friends, communities, and local pediatric cancer foundations during Avery’s fight with cancer.
One of those pediatric cancer foundations that supported not only Avery, but her siblings Olivia and Owen and the rest of our family, was Kisses from Keegan and Friends. They help support families going through this indescribable journey.
Please join us in Avery’s 5k Run & “Walk Walk” to honor her courage, bravery, and sassy spirit. Proceeds will be donated to the pediatric cancer foundation Kisses from Keegan and Friends, where local families support local families.
Her fight will always be our fight.

Tshirts
Everyone who is registered by noon Wednesday August 26th will be guaranteed a custom shirt. After that, shirts will be available while online supplies last. Any extra shirts will be distributed after the race on a first come, first served basis. About tshirts.
Course
The Run / Walk starts at the Boerner Botanical Gardens. The starting line is in the middle of the gardens and follows Whitnall Park Dr though Whitnall Park. This road course has winding curves and minor rolling hills.
Parking
Parking is available on site. The entrance to the parking lot is off of 92nd street. The entrance from Whitnall Park Drive will be close at 8:30am.
Timing
The race is chip timed by Silver Circle Sports Events, LLC with a chip start. Your time will start when you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line.
Awards
Age group male & female 0-14 then in 5 year increments.
