2021 Race Update - Race Day Instructions
It’s hard to believe it has been almost a year since we cancelled our first race. Shake Your Shamrocks will happen this year! We have plans, backup plans, and backup backup plans with permits and approved courses for every scenario!
This is the final plan!
There is still ice on the Lake Country Trail. The race will be held at Menomonee Park. Plan to arrive early!
All events will start at 9:00am.
If you registered for the 2020 race and would like to run this year, you need to claim your deferral. Please do it ASAP since we expect the race to sell out.
How to Complete Your Deferral from 2020
Your race entry has been deferred, but you need to claim your deferral if you want to run this year. Here is how to do it:
1. Go to runsignup.com.
2. Click on Profile.
3. Under the Deferrals tab, click Complete Deferral.
4. Click Start Transfer.
Chilly Willy Winter Run Series
If you were registered for the series last year, or registered for the individual race last year, and are registered for the series again this year, you do not need to claim a deferral (you’re already registered for 2021); instead, I owe you a race. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org (don’t reply to this email) in a few weeks and I will send you a code for a race of your choice. The individual race codes must be created manually, and it takes some time.
So, what if there is ice on the trail like two years ago? We follow the PPPPPP methodology around these parts. We have permits and approved courses for Menomonee Park, too.
The run starts at Lucky Chuckys before heading to the Lake Country Trail (paved). The 5K is a very fast and flat out and back. The 10K follows the same course but extends further north and south on the trail.
The race has been moved to Menonomee Park.
Please see the description. The race may move to Roosevelt Park. The Lake Country Trail will still be used, but may start at the park instead of Lucky Chuckys.
Make sure you come dressed in your best "Shake Your Shamrocks" costume.
Largest team wearing a kilt - free round + obnoxiously decorated 2 foot team trophy. The team must wear their kilt for the run. Best team (4 people+) costume - free after work keg party at The Lakeside! Best female & male costume - Gift certificate to The Lakeside
We encourage runners to still wear costumes, but there will not be awards this year.
Everyone who is registered by noon March 3rd will be guaranteed a custom shirt. After that, shirts will be available while online supplies last. Any extra shirts will be distributed after the race on a first come, first served basis.
Everything you ever wanted to know about shirts can be found right here.
All kids races are cancelled until further notice. We are hopeful we can bring them back early summer 2021.
Bring the kiddos out for a 1K. It's free if a parent is running and all kiddos will get a finisher medal. The race is open to children of any age, but is intended for those under 10 years old and is usually shorter than a 1K. Parents are welcome to run with the kids if they are registered for the race. Sorry, no shirts for the kiddos.
At registration checkout, you will be given the option to share your registration on Facebook. You should share it and if 3 people register from that post, shazam we will refund $10.
On your registration receipt, there will be a registration link. Share that link and we will refund $10 for every 3 registrations.
You can find the registration link by logging into your Run Sign Up account and email the receipt to yourself. The software will keep track of friends registering from your link and Facebook post.
PLEASE BRING YOUR RECEIPT WITH YOU!
You do not need to print it. We will need to scan the QR code on the receipt, though, so please have your email accessible on your mobile device or save a picture of your receipt with the QR code to your device’s image library.
7:30am packet pickup
9:00am all races start
Top 3 male & female finishers in 5-year age groups will receive a custom medal. There will not be an awards ceremony and we will not be distributing awards on race day. Instead, you can pick them up at our office, order them to be mailed by clicking here, or pick them up at a future race’s packet pickup.
The race is chip timed by Silver Circle Sports Events, LLC with a chip start. Your time will start when you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line.
Because we cannot guarantee a touch-free aid station, there are no aid stations on the course or at the finish line. You should bring your own water.
Parking is tight at Shake Your Shamrocks 5K & 10K!
If you want to park at the start/finish line, arrive early. If you want to arrive fashionable late, be early because you are going to need to park in another lot and walk to the start/finish line. You will also need a Waukesha County Parks sticker. You can buy a daily pass for $6.00 (cash only). If you are buying a daily pass, please have exactly $6.00 ready when you get to the gate or your going to be "that guy" that holds up the line. Here is the park map.
Parking is available at Lucky Chucky's, but it limited to 150 cars. Arrive early & car pool! Valley Road will be closed 15 minutes before the start and you will not be able to park after the road closure. There is NO parking on Valley Road, Silver Lake, Silver Circle, Silver Cedar or Silver whatever or any of the side streets (we have to run on them). There is ample parking on Oconomowoc Parkway and we will run a bus to the restaurant. Seriously, make your race day easy and take the bus! If the race is moved to Roosevelt Park, there is ample street parking.
We need volunteers for everything from aid station support to course marshals. If you or your group have an interest in volunteering, we would greatly appreciate the assistance. All volunteers can run a future race at no charge.
If you have any questions about this race, click the button below.
Refunds are not permitted for any reason.
The event will be held unless severe weather occurs. In the event of severe weather, the race director may delay or cancel the event. If the event is canceled, there will be no refunds. Silver Circle Sports Events has a NO REFUND policy, but we have lots of other options including insurance, deferrals, and bib transfers.
Can't make it to the race. Run it virtually and we will send your swag after the race.
