Schlitz Park's Run by the River 5k is the only downtown 5K and 2-mile walk that takes runners along the Milwaukee Riverwalk, through Brewer's Hill and around the historic Schlitz Brewery turned office campus. The 5K race was started by the late Gary Grunau, the previous owner of the Schlitz Park campus whose impact on both development and philanthropy changed the downtown scene as we know it.
The Schlitz Park 5K Run by the River and 2-Mile Walk attracts more than 500 runners that include individuals, teams, corporate partners and Milwaukee community members. Each year the 5K has generated thousands of dollars in funds for the selected beneficiary.
New event activations this year include the Tap Yard Beer Garden & live music.

Chairty Partner - Ignite the Spirit Fund
Firefighters are known to go to great lengths to help others in need. Ignite the Spirit - Milwaukee was created to raise funds for Firefighters and their families who have suffered unfortunate hardships. Our mission is to ensure that our Brothers and Sisters are never left to battle life's hardships alone.
Our vision is to provide emotional and physical support and financial assistance to Milwaukee Firefighters during times of need. We accomplish this through donations from the local community, and by partnering with local businesses and other non-profit organizations for our annual fundraising events.
We are proud to be a 501(c) (3) organization created and managed by Milwaukee Firefighters. And, all members of Ignite The Spirit - Milwaukee are unpaid volunteers. This means that every donation goes directly to providing financial support to Milwaukee Firefighters and their families.

You do not need to print it. We will need to scan the QR code on the receipt, though, so please have your email accessible on your mobile device or save a picture of your receipt with the QR code to your device’s image library.

5:00pm Packet pickup opens (north side of parking lot). Look for the red packet pickup flag!
6:15pm 5K run & 2-mile walk start – walkers please stage behind runners.

Fastest Team - the four fastest times from your team will be used for this category.
Creating teams- Have your team captain register for the event and create a team. All the team members can just choose the team name from the drop-down menu during registration. How to create teams.
Course Maps
The start and finish for both the run and walk will be the same location. In Schlitz Park. Look for the large truss in the parking lot.
Tshirts
Race shirts are gender-specific, dry-wick, and guaranteed for those registered by noon on August 28. After that, shirts will be available only while online supplies last. Don’t miss your chance to grab a custom race shirt—register early! 🎽👟

Parking
Free parking is available in the surface parking lot at the Southeast corner of Cherry St. and Dr. Martin Luther King St.
Day of Registration
We highly recommend registering in advance—it’s quick and can be done from your phone!
If you choose to register on race day, you must register electronically; paper registration is not available.

How to Transfer, Defer, Change Shirt Size, or Change Distances
Follow these steps to make changes to your race registration:
- Go to RunSignUp.com and log in to your account.
- Select your Profile.
- Scroll down to the race you wish to modify.
- Click on "Manage Registration".
- Choose from the available options in the menu, including:
- Transfers (to another participant or race)
- Change Shirt Size
- Modify Team
- Change Distances
- Resend Confirmation/QR Code
- Deferrals
