Disclosure! Warning! Disclosure! Warning!
This is a NIGHT run which means it will be DARK. The start, downtown, and the finish line are lit up brightly, but the trail is NOT. That means it will be DARK. Unless you are an owl, you should consider wearing a running vest with lights & head lamp. This race is also in November, in Wisconsin. There may be snow - a little snow or a couple feet of snow - be prepared to run in snow. Did we mention it is a NIGHT race, it will be DARK, and there could be SNOW?
The start line is located 2 blocks east of the Oconomowoc Community Center at the Oconomowoc Police station 174 E. Wisconsin Ave. This is the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and St. Paul Street. Runners will stage on St. Paul facing Wisconsin.
Runners will start on St. Paul running north to Wisconsin Ave. This is where all the Christmas lights are! Runners turn west (right) enjoying Downtown Oconomowoc’s Christmas Light.
The road will be closed during this time and the course will be led by a vehicle, but there will be cars parked on this portion of the course. Watch for any grinches who may decide to jump in their sleigh at this time.
Once runners reach the Church street, they will turn south (left), pass the finish line (don’t worry about the timing matts), run under the train trestle, and then a few blocks until reaching the Lake Country Trail.
The Lake Country Trail does not have street lights because it is not a street. You should wear a headlamp and light safety vest. Please do not run/walk more than 2 abreast.
Once on the Trail you will pass the aid station at Roosevelt Park. The turn is about 1 mile later. Don’t worry you can’t miss it. There will be lots of lights at the turn and a 3 foot tall sign in the middle of the path that says turn here. You should turn here or your going to end up in Waukesha.
Once the turn is made, it’s all downhill from there. You will know where the finish line is because you ran thought it earlier.
Please do not run/walk more than two abreast on the path. Faster runners will be approaching you on the path and they have very sharp elbows.
Register to be Santa's Little Helper. All helpers can run a future event for free!
