Description

The 2022 Yule Twinkle can't happen this year because the trail is closed, so why not join the parade!

The Silver Circle Foundation, Inc 501(c)3 and Silver Circle will have a float in the parade with Jenny Thiel be singing Christmas songs! We want you to walk with us? It is free to register, but we strongly encourage you to make a donation.

Typically we use the funds from the Yule Twinkle 5K to make a $1,000 donation to the Oconomowoc Christmas Lights Fund. Since there isn't going to be a run this year, we won't be making a contribution. Any donations as part of this event will go to the fund.

Participants are encouraged to wear Christmas lights. The parade walk is limited, so register early!

Parking

Parking is not available at the park. We suggest you park downtown or in the neighbor to the east of the park.

Downtown will be closed to vehicles prior to the parade.

Candy

We will have candy for you to hand out thanks to Hunzinger Construction.  Candy cannot be thrown from the float.

Parade Guidelines

All parade participants should enter from Lisbon Rd. and Oakwood Ave. Units will enter the staging area at Cherry St. and Oakwood Ave. Only parade unit vehicles may enter the staging area. Participants should be dropped off and walk to their appropriate unit number. We will not allow thru traffic on Oakwood past Cherry St. for the safety of participants and organizers.

Please no Santa's in your unit.  We already have Santa who will make an appearance at the end of the parade.

A Candyland Christmas is the theme so let your imagination run wild!  This can be done with music, decorations, costumes or however you can get creative with the theme. Have fun with it!

Lights are required for every unit.  Battery operated lights are a great option for participants

Parade line up

No throwing candy from moving vehicles to keep this a safe event for families and children. You can hand out candy by walking along the parade route.

Message from the parade director.

Thank you for participating in the Oconomowoc Christmas parade!  This year we have more participants than usual!  It is great to see returning and new units participate to make this a wonderful community event!  Please see attached for the parade lineup with your number.  Please note there are multiple requests made to be positioned in certain spots in the line up.  With a lot of consideration, we try our best to accommodate those requests while maintaining a well thought out and diverse lineup.  If you haven't done so already, please send me the amount of feet you need in the staging area so Kiwanis can space lineup numbers accordingly.

Parade units and participants need to enter at Lisbon Rd. and Oakwood Ave and will go south to Cherry Street.  There your parade unit will be cleared with someone from Kiwanis to go to your lineup number.  Parade participants must be dropped off at Cherry St. and Oakwood Ave. and walk to their unit.  If you are parking vehicles that are not in the actual parade, you may do so north of Cherry Street along Oakwood Ave or any of those other side streets.  The parade route STARTS at Walnut St and Pleasant St and the staging area will be north on Walnut/Oakwood on both sides of the street up to Cherry Street.  The parade will once again end at N. Lake Road and Lisbon Road.  Participants are to continue on Lisbon Road back to the staging area to disburse.  Attached is a map with the staging area and parade route for your reference.  Feel free to share the map with your participants.

(This is across the street from Fowler Park. The Sausage House is on the corner of Oakwood and Cherry. The start line is south across the bridge, but we are near the end of the parade and will be closer to Cherry than Walnut. Our float will be pulled by a white GMC 2500.)

The parade starts at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 3rd.  Participants can start lining up at the staging area between 3:00/3:30 pm to decorate your float/unit in your staging area if need be.  All units are to be in the staging area no later than 4:30 pm.

We are going to have someone taking video in front of Whelan's Coffee Shop downtown Oconomowoc.  Please make sure your unit is either playing their music, performing, etc. when you go past Whelan's.  You do not need to stop in front of the coffee shop.

As always, we strive to make this a safe and fun community event so please do not throw candy during the parade from moving vehicles.  With it being a night parade, it can be hard to see children running for candy in the road.  If you are passing out candy, please do so on the sides of the street.  We also want to make sure all participants are safe in the staging area so please adhere to our parking policies and drop off rules.  A friendly reminder, please no other Santas than the one we provide at the end of the parade.
