Childhood cancer happens everywhere. In 2018, an estimated 15,590 children were diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Globally, it is estimated that 300,000+ new cases of cancer affect children each year; however, this number may be vastly underestimated due to large numbers of diagnosed cases. Despite these facts, childhood cancer research is consistently underfunded.

Only about 4% of grant research money goes to childhood cancer research. We believe our patients deserve more than this. Every day in the United States, 43 children, ages 0-19, are diagnosed with cancer, and childhood cancer survivors are twice as likely to suffer chronic health conditions. So let's get out and show our support and walk or run more than 4! Our hope with this virtual challenge is that we can go gold (the childhood cancer color) for the month of September and raise awareness. We encourage everyone to log your "more than 4" any way you want. It can be more than 4 miles per run, more than 4 miles per week, more than 4 miles for the month, just get out there and get moving. No matter what you decide to do we will have a live leader-board for all participants. Once you log 4 miles a medal will be sent out and a prize will be awarded to the top male and female walker or runner with the most miles.
