The Brooke Hancock Special Needs Coalition is comprised of community members concerned about the needs of people with any disability.
Our goal is to provide information, advocate for programs and services and provide socialization through activities to enhance the lives of Northern Panhandle West Virginians living with disabilities.
Proceeds to benefit the coalition and Hancock County Special Olympics.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY T-SHIRT AND PIN
The " Be Who You Are" 4th Annual Virtual Stride for Special Needs is open to anyone, anywhere and you can run your race anytime between Oct 17th and Nov 15th.
T-shirts and race pins will be available for pick up beginning Monday, November 16th. If you live in the Weirton area, you are welcome to come pick up your items at the Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network, 1300 Potomac Avenue, Suite C, Weirton, WV 26062 (Upper Level above Gym & Cafe)
However, if you would rather remain socially distanced, you may select to have your items mailed to you for a $5 fee that will be paid during registration
How To Run A Virtual Race
- REGISTER
- Sign up for the race you want to participate in, here on the RunSignUp registration page.
- SWAG
- You will receive an email before the start of the virtual event letting you know when the SWAG (Stuff We All Get) will be mailed to you, or if you are local to our company (Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network, 1300 Potomac Avenue, Suite C - Upper Level, Weirton, WV 26062) when you can pick it up.
- RUN YOUR RACE
- The next step is to run the race you signed up for between the dates that are specified in the instructions or on the web site. Since this is a "Virtual" event, you can run wherever and whenever you want. Unless there are explicit instructions stating otherwise, you can run the distance all at once, or break it into multiple runs on different days. Remember, Virtual = Flexible.
- POST RESULTS and PHOTOS
- After completing your "Race", please post your results and photos to this web site, using the Results link at the top of the page. There are no awards for our virtual races, as everything is on the honor system when posting race results.
- PRINT YOUR FINISHERS CERTIFICATE
- After you run your race, be sure to print your custom finishers certificate. Simply click on your name in the results page after they are posted and click the link below your bib number in the upper right-hand corner. See the photo below.
- UPLOAD PHOTOS ONTO YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA AND SHARE
- After completing your race, posting your results and printing your finisher's certificate, feel free to post to our Facebook page a picture of yourself with your bib on, your running partners, your GPS watch, etc.

REFERRAL PROGRAM TO EARN REGISTRATION REBATE
The referral program is one way we can say thank you for participating in our race. The simple details are below.
- Register for the event.
- Receive your unique promotional code to share with their friends, family and fellow runners.
- Share your code email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or however you like.
- Get 5 people to register using your unique code
- The Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network will then refund $10 of your registration fee (minus the processing) as a thank you for helping us promote this event.
