Road Closure and Restriction Information

On Saturday, October 26th, 2024, the Irvington Vampire Run will take place as part of the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival. The route this year is the same footprint as the past two years, but the route in which we run through has changed. The 5k starts at 9:30 AM and the 1-mile at 9:45 AM.
The course itself begins on Burgess Ave just west of Ritter near Coal Yard Coffee and the railroad tracks. It proceeds north (left) on Ritter Ave, turns west (left) onto University Ave, south (left) onto Downey Ave, west (right) onto Ohmer Ave, east (right) onto Universtiy Ave, north (left) onto Downey Ave, east (right) onto Julian Ave, then turn south (right) back onto Ritter. From there the route turns east (left) onto Burgess Ave, east (right) onto University Ave, around the southwest side of Irving Circle, south (right) onto Audubon Rd, east (left) onto Beechwood Ave, turns around between the Kile Oak and Arlington Ave, heads north (right) onto Oak Ave, north (left) onto University Ave, around the north half of Irving Circle heading west, then heads north (right) back onto Ritter Ave. The course finishes on the Pennsy Trail along Bonna Ave after turning east (right) off of Ritter Ave. A water stop will be located in front of 359 Burgess Ave.
How will this affect you?
Road Closures: The starting area on Burgess Ave west of S Ritter Ave will be closed to the railroad tracks from 7:30 AM until approximately 10:00 AM.
Zone 1: The affected roads west of S Ritter Ave will be closed from 9:25 AM until approximately 10:30 AM. These include University Ave between Ritter and Ohmer Ave, Ohmer Ave from University Ave, Downey Ave from Ritter Ave to Julian Ave, and Julian Ave from Downey Ave to Ritter Ave.
Zone 2: South Ritter Avenue will be affected from 9:25 AM until approximately 11:15 AM. Ritter Ave will be closed from Julian Ave south to Burgess Ave at the railroad tracks. Traffic will be restricted from Washington Street to Julian Ave, and from Brookville Rd to Burgess Ave. Local resident and business traffic will be permitted on these restricted sections.
Zone 3: Roads east of Ritter will be closed from 9:30 AM to approximately 11:15 AM. These include University Ave from Ritter Ave to Good Ave, Burgess Ave from Ritter Ave to University Ave, Audubon Rd from South Irving Circle to Beechwood Ave, Beechwood Ave from Audubon Rd to Arlington Ave, Good Ave from Beechwood Ave to University Ave, and all of South Irving Circle.
Access will be granted to emergency personnel as needed. Any other traffic found on the roads will be immediately directed by IMPD and race personnel to yield to race participants.
