Emporia Freedom Fest 2020 (On-site and Virtual)

Emporia Freedom Fest is a series of outdoor events bringing together people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors, exercise, and honor all Veterans and their families and support the beautiful All Veterans Memorial and Park. 

2020 brings new challenges and opportunities to honor all Veterans and support the All Vets Memorial Park.

Individuals can select either a virtual or a traditional in-person option for the LCSB 5K and the Gravel City Adventure Freedom Rides (on site will run in staggered start times and have a limited number of spots). The EANGKS 10-mile Ruck march will only be offered virtually, while both rounds of the Dynamic Discs Freedom Fest Open will be played at Soden’s Grove that day. Due to the proximity close contact within the Spur Challenge, it will be postponed until 2021.

Due to the formatting of events, all categories will be for participation only. Typically, events are timed, and awards are given accordingly. This year, everyone who registers will be entered into a drawing to win prizes – including gift certificates sponsored by Lyon County State Bank and hand-crafted trophies created by the Welding Department at Flint Hills Technical College.

Major Changes for Onsite Events:

There will be no day of registration this year. Please register online or contact the Emporia Main Street office (620) 340-6430.
-The 5K/1mile event will begin at 8 am. Groups of 25 will start at 8 and go every 15 minutes. Participants will receive an email the week of the event with their approximate start time. 
-The 16/40 mile rides will begin at 9 am. Groups of 25 will start at 9 and go every 15 minutes. Participants will receive an email the week of the event with their approximate start time. 
-Please do not arrive much in advance of your start time.
-Participants must wear a mask until they are out on course.
-Social Distancing must be followed.
-Participants will be able to pick up their packets at Emporia Main Street on November 5th and 6th between noon and 5pm.

Virtual Events:

-Participants can register and complete between now and November 11th
-If you are not in the local area, we can mail your packet to you.
-Please make sure to send in your times and participation photos to mainstreet2@emporia-kansas.gov
