Join Us for the 7th Annual 5K/1 Mile Walk!
Mark your calendar for September 20, 2025, and be part of our 7th Annual 5K/1 Mile Walk benefiting the Kansas State School for the Blind! This exciting event welcomes runners, walkers, and families for a day of fun and community support.
Choose between the 5K run or 1-mile walk—all while helping to enhance programs for blind and visually impaired youth. Participants will get the chance to explore the Kansas State School for the Blind campus, enjoy live music, and delicious food trucks, and even work on improving their 5K time!
🏆 Awards will be given to the overall male and female race winners.

We’re Hybrid! Join Us In-Person or Virtually
This year, we’re offering both in-person and virtual options for our walk/run event! Whether you join us on-site or participate from anywhere in the country, we encourage friends and family to be part of this fun-filled event.
In-Person Walk/Run

📍 Location: Kansas School for the Blind, 1100 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas
Virtual Walk/Run
Can’t make it in person? Complete your run or walk anytime, anywhere! We’ll mail your t-shirt and participant medal to you—unless you prefer to pick them up in person during packet pickup. Register by September 1st to receive your t-shirt in time for the event.
Food Trucks
Come hungry! We’re bringing in a variety of delicious options from local food trucks. Stay tuned for more details!

Support the Kansas State School for the Blind with Every Step!
Proceeds from the 2025 KCBAS Run/Walk will directly benefit the Kansas State School for the Blind (KSSB), helping to create a more inclusive environment for the students and families it serves.
This year, we aim to surpass last year’s fundraising goal, grow the event, and raise awareness about the impactful programs and services offered by KCBAS and KSSB.

All participants will receive a medal and race t-shirt! Check out the 2024 designs below—the 2025 design will be revealed soon!
Race Day Pickup:

Registration Deadline for Guaranteed T-Shirts:
📅 Register by September 1 to guarantee your race t-shirt. Due to production timelines, participants who register after September 1 will still receive a race medal, but t-shirt delivery may be delayed.
Virtual Participants:
Can’t join us in person? No problem! We’ll mail your shirt and medal unless you prefer to pick them up in person. Register by September 1 to receive your t-shirt by September 20.

- 8:55 AM – Participants line up (runners first, followed by walkers)
- 9:00 AM – Race begins! 🏁
