About the Organ
The Reuter Pipe Organ at First United Methodist Church in historic downtown Lawrence, KS, is historic in its own right, having been installed in 1938 and renovated and expanded over the years to become the largest pipe organ in the state of Kansas. Its pipes number over 7100, ranging in size from 16’ long to the size of a child’s pinky. The organist has four manuals and a full pedal keyboard to play all the different sounds of the orchestra, including strings, trumpets, French Horns, oboes, and flutes. Cameras are located above the organist and at his/her feet to allow the audience to watch the organist in action.
