Who is NAMI?
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Northeast Kansas/Leavenworth, provides education, support, advocacy and leadership for those dealing with a mental illness, their families and friends. We provide these services at no charge to those in the counties of Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson. We are a 501c3 Corporation, governed by a board of directors elected by our members. We are 100% volunteers, and provide our services based solely on donations. Our free programs include the following:

Support: we offer peer based support groups for those dealing with a mental health diagnosis, family/friends support groups, and military/veteran support groups. These are held both monthly and bi-monthly.

Education: we offer educational classes specific to the needs of the attendees, including our SAMSHA sanctioned Family-to-Family class, Peer-to-Peer classes for those with a mental illness, In Our Own Voice educational sessions, amongst other focus groups training.

Advocacy: we work together with our Grassroots Advocacy teams towards better healthcare initiatives, such as Mental Health Reform, expansion of Medicaid and many other needs for better funding and support of those dealing with a mental health issue.
