Description
Our son, Christopher Briscoe, was a cheerful and amazing child. On April 4, 2015, the night before Easter, Christopher, who was 15 months old, went to bed and never woke up. We still do not know why our precious son died.
Since Christopher was over the age of 1 year; his passing is not considered Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Instead, it belongs to a lesser known category, Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) which occurs when an apparently healthy child beyond the age of 12 months dies without warning and without a known cause found after a thorough investigation.
Soon after our loss we learned of The SUDC Foundation which provided us with crucial support services, information and access to research. Being able to talk with others who had experienced SUDC helped us not feel so alone. The SUDC Foundation is the only organization in the world devoted solely to supporting families affected by SUDC and advocating for SUDC research to find answers.
We have created the 1st annual “Christopher’s Pins for a Purpose” event, in memory of Christopher and to raise donations and awareness for The SUDC Foundation to help bring about a future where no family ever has to experience the tragedy of SUDC. Our 1st annual “Christopher’s Pins for a Purpose” will be held April 2, 2016 from 12:00pm–3:00pm, at Little Apple Lane, 515 Richards Drive, Manhattan, KS 66502. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at christopherscrusaders@gmail.com or online at http://www.sudc.org/christopherscrusaders to learn more about getting involved.
Sincerely,
Eden and David Briscoe
In memory of our angel Christopher Riley Briscoe
