About the Run:
In 2007 Olathe Officer Cyrus (Cy) Middleton was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Olathe Police Department created the Cy Middleton Memorial Basketball Tournament in 2007 to raise money to help Cy and his family. Unfortunately, Cy Middleton passed away in December 2007 from his short battle with lung cancer leaving behind his wife and baby boy. Each year since 2007 Olathe Police Department hosts the tournament in memory of Olathe Police Officer Cy Middleton. Funds raised from the tournament are used to help support other Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders or their families. Due to COVID we have decided to add a Virtual 5K Walk to help raise money to help families of First Responders.
Over the last 13 years, we have been able to raise over $100,000 for medical bills, donations to the Children’s Organ Transport Association (COTA) and the families who have lost their loved one. The funds have been able to help 27 First Responders and/or their families.
