Please join us for the 12th Annual Run for the Red 5K & 10K Run/Walk and Kids Run on May 13th, 2017. This is a fun-filled family event featuring racing, awards, a Health and Fitness fair, and a Case Lot Sale from the local commissary. All proceeds will benefit the programs provided by the American Red Cross that help support the community, Soldiers and their family members here on Fort Knox.
7:30-8:15 a.m.- Registration-Race packet pick up
7:30-9:30 a.m.- Kids Run Registration (50 & 100 Yard Dash)
8:30 a.m.- 5K/10K Run/Walk Begins.
9:30 a.m.- Kids Run (ages 9 and below)-No T-Shirt but participants will receive a goody bag.
Registration and T-shirt Details:
Race registration, start, and finish will take place at the Post Exchange (PX).
Free T-shirts are ONLY guaranteed to those who PRE-REGISTERED. Pre-Registration ends on April 29, 2017 at midnight. Late registrants will receive t-shirts ONLY if available on the day of the event (no child sizes available). Water is free to all participants and "Goodie bags" and or samples of health and fitness products are available by vendors. Children participating in the Kids Run will NOT receive a T-shirt, but will receive their own Goodie bag. Dri-Fit shirts will also be available this year for an additional $10 dollars.
If your group is composed of 10 or more participants you will pay a reduced fee online or you can contact the Red Cross (502) 624-2163 for the discount.
Early packet pick up for those who pre-register will take place on Thursday and Friday May 11-12 from 0800-1630 at the Fort Knox Red Cross office 1131 5th Ave.
The American Red Cross will cancel the race in the event of severe inclement weather (tornados, flooding, thunderstorms). The Red Cross will not provide refunds in the event that the race is cancelled. Pre-registered individuals will still receive t-shirts.
What to wear:
Runners must wear their racing bibs at all times displayed on their chest for the duration of the entire race and until after the awards ceremony. Please bring proper ID as well and dress appropriately for the weather.
Special Rules and Considerations:
Fort Knox is a military installation. Due to the Global War on Terrorism, Fort Knox security services and personnel reserve the right to limit installation access to anyone, anytime. All personnel entering Fort Knox are guest on the installation and are subject to all applicable rules and regulations, including but not limited to searches of persons and property upon entry or exit from the installation.
Special Rules and Disqualification:
No pictures at the Fort Knox military installation. Runners must maintain their race bibs on their chest throughout the race until the awards ceremony finishes. Any participant who deviates from the course for any reason, receives assistance that would give them an unfair advantage over other racers or does not follow accepted guidelines, will be disqualified.
Directions to Fort Knox:
Take 31 W South to Bullion Exit and go through gate. Turn right at first light signal onto Spearhead Div Rd. Follow it to the first light and turn right onto Dixie St. Follow Dixie St to a 4-way stop and turn right onto Gold Vault Rd. Turn right into Commissary/PX.
Take 31 W North to Bullionn Exit and follow the same directions as above.
