About The Rugged Relay
The Rugged Relay celebrates the opening of the first in-town off road trail in the City of Leitchfield and Grayson County.
With FOUR different race options, The Rugged is meant to offer something for everyone; while introducing Grayson County to the amazing sport of trail running. The Rugged will take place on the first 1.5-mile section of completed trail, which is currently being built by the Public Trails Association of Grayson County.
Participants have options of a 3 Mile race (2 loops) a 6 Mile race (4 loops), a solo 4-hour run (the most laps wins!) or a Four person relay team 4-hour run (again, the most laps win!).
The Taylor Fork Trail grand opening is this March 18th, and when fully completed it will consist of up to 7 miles of hiking, mountain biking and running trails nestled in the heart of downtown Leitchfield.
The Big Vision:
The Rugged Relay was created to support the development of Leitchfield in ways that can increase the quality of life for current residents, and bring non-residents to our community. The initial focus is to establish a series of running, biking and ultra-distance athletic events in Grayson County.
Creating an “ecosystem” of events that utilize the area and bring non-residents in to complete will help to both create a culture of physical activity in the community, and establish Grayson County as a destination for competitive distance events.
