John's Run/Walk Shop Speakeasy Series- Matt Hoyes

John's Run/Walk Shop presents the second installment in the Speakeasy Series: drink free beer and talk running with us!

This month we have the pleasure to welcome Matt Hoyes 44 out of Bardstown, KY - masters runner, trail and ultra runner and track/XC coach.  A runner and a cyclist in high school, Matt focused on competitive cycling during his time at Lindsey Wilson College.  When he began teaching in 2006, he picked up running again as a way of getting out and spending more time with his distance runners.  Since then, he has run PR’s of 1:15 half marathon, 2:39 marathon, 3:04 trail marathon, 3:22 50k, 5:54 50mi, and has previously set the FKT for the Sheltowee Trace Trail at the 307mi distance.  He also holds CR’s at the Otter Creek Trail Marathon, Honest Abe Trail Marathon, Backside Trail Marathon, Backyard Classic 8hour, Hardin-Meade Fatass 50k, and the E’town Fall Classic Half. Currently, Matt lives in Bardstown with his wife Emmy and sons, Lane (15) and Redding (3) and daughter, Evan (1).  He teaches art and coaches at Thomas Nelson High School.
