The Speakeasy Series- Bernadette Madigan-Dugan

John's Run/Walk Shop presents the fourth installment in the Speakeasy Series: drink free beer and talk running with us! This month we are joined by John’s Run/Walk Shop’s very own Bernadette Madigan-Dugan.

Bernie says that ever since she was a young kid, she had three dreams: to be a runner, to be a coach and to be a singer. Her singing career came to an abrupt end in Kindergarten when she was eliminated from the school choir. Two out of three is not bad!After a very prestigious junior career in England, Bernie competed in the NCAA for the University of Kentucky. She became the first ever National Champion in any sport at the University of Kentucky winning the NCAA Indoor Two- mile Championships. She held 16 school records while at UK, was a 5-time All American, and more recently was inducted into the UK Hall of Fame and SEC Legends Class of 2017. After competing in college, Bernie coached all over the country and helped pioneer the Girls on the Run Program in Lexington. Bernie will talk about her journey in running and how it translated into a passion for coaching.
