COURSE DESCRIPTION: Travel back in time where wilderness meets history. Retrace the footsteps of the early pioneers in an easy/moderate trail and road run in Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park, a city park located in London, KY. The Boone Trace Trail Run combines the beauty of rolling, wooded hills with historical sites that honors the pioneers who braved the perils of the wilderness to settle Kentucky. The run features several historical landmarks: Boone’s Trace and Wilderness Road: Between 1774 and 1796, more than 200,000 pioneers traveled over the Wilderness Road and Boone’s Trace, an integral part of Kentucky’s early history. McHargue's Mill: working reproduction mill surrounded by the largest display of millstones in the country. Mountain Life Museum: pioneer era structures during the Wilderness Road era include a barn, stable, loom house, church and blacksmith shop, location of filming of The Kentuckian, a 1955 movie starring Burt Lancaster. McNitt Defeat Camp Burial Ground: one of the most tragic events ever to occur along Boone Trace in 1786. Twenty-four known victims died that night with just three survivors. The memorial of the massacre is known as the Defeated Camp Burial Ground. Historical Stump Site: Legend says that a pregnant pioneer managed to escape the attack, crawled into the hollow of a tree, delivered her baby, and survived. Today, the tree site is identified with a historical circumference marker of the tree. Laurel County Homecoming: the run will occur during the longest running homecoming in the state of Kentucky. Enjoy food, music entertainment, vendors in the park after the race.
REGISTRATION AND FEES: Runners can pre-register at signup.com or day of the race from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Preregistration (Received by May 31st) is $20, (Received by June 30th) is $25 (Received by July 31st) $30 Late Registration (Received by August 14this $35
Registration August 2nd up to day of the race does not guarantee T shirt availability. Packet pick-up is race day only from 5:00pm-6:15pm. at Levi Jackson Park at the starting line behind the blue Clubhouse.
AWARDS: Awards will be given for top Overall male and female, 1st Masters (40+) male and female, 1st Grandmasters (50+) male and female. Custom awards three deep in the following age divisions, male & female: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35- 39,40-44, 45-49,50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+. Overall winners are not eligible for age division awards.
