Attention all animal lovers! Runners, walkers, and 4-legged friends of all ages are invited to Madisonville City Park for our first annual Hopkins County Humane Society RUN FOR THE PAWS 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run.
As a non-profit organization, The Hopkins County Humane Society relies on the generosity of our community and their donations throughout the year to continue our mission of helping animals in need.
Mark your calendars for June 8th and join us for a fun-filled day of running, walking, and wagging tails! All proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the Hopkins County Humane Society and the animals in our care.
The event will take place at the Madisonville City Park on Saturday, June 8th. The Kids Fun Run will start at 8:00am and the 5k Run/Walk will start at 8:15am.
This is a fun occasion for the whole family - strollers and four-legged family members are welcome, we ask that you start behind the runners, and please, clean up after your dog!
PLEASE NOTE, IN ORDER TO BE GUARANTEED A RACE T-SHIRT YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE MAY 19TH.
Parking is available in all designated parking areas.
Participants are encouraged to bring donations of dry and soft, dog, puppy and cat food, blankets and cleaning supplies (bleach, dish soap, cleaning cloths, disinfecting wipes, etc.)
Prizes will be awarded to First Male and First Female in the following categories:

First Stroller 5k
Medals to first boy and girl in the Kids Fun Run

Course Map
The race will start near the playground area.
All loops are run counter-clockwise. We will have flags and volunteers to help you stay on course! Please stay inside the flags on the grassy areas.
We will have volunteers at all road crossings, but please use common sense and caution!
The kids fun run will be first, they will run a .25 mile loop near the playground. Start/Finish is the same as the 5k. There will be a "rabbit" for them to follow!
5k will start at the playground area, running a 1.55 mile loop two twice. Head towards the tennis courts, making a U-turn on Park Avenue. PLEASE STAY TO THE RIGHT WHILE ON THE ROAD. You will cross the road, joining the trail next to the baseball stadium, then go left past the maintenance sheds. Follow this path all the way, turning right when you reach the grass. Cross the field and follow the tree line back up to the road. Turn left onto the sidewalk. Then go right across Park Avenue. Follow the gravel trail then go right over the bridge. You will cut across the grass and cross another bridge, going left and up the hill. When you reach the start/finish line on your first loop, please stay to the right hand side, and continue to follow the loop one more time. When you reach this area for the final time, the finish line will be to the left.
Walkers/slower runners, PLEASE move aside for front runners to pass, thank you!
There are a few areas that have damage from recent rains, these will be marked with orange paint, but please use caution. Use caution on bridges as rain/dew may make them slippery.

Take I-69 N. Follow I-69 N to KY-70 W/E Center Street. Take exit 114 from I-69 N. Turn left onto East Center Street. Turn left on to Park Ave, then turn left in to the park.
From the North,
Take US-41 S to Pennyrile Parkway. Follow I-69 to KY-70 W/ E Center Street. Take exit 114 from I-69. Turn right on to East Center Street. Turn left on to Park Ave, then turn left in to the park.
