The 6th Annual Run Morehead 5K returns to downtown Morehead on Friday, July 3, 2026, bringing runners, walkers, families and the community together for an evening focused on movement and connection.
Run Morehead is a welcoming, all-ages event designed for participants of every pace and experience level. Whether you’re running for a personal best, walking with friends, or joining for the first time, this event is about showing up and being part of something local and meaningful.

Distance: 5K
Participants: Runners and walkers of all ages. Strollers and dogs on fixed length leashes are welcome too. All participants will receive a finisher medal and race shirt.
Course: Downtown route through the heart of Morehead
Race Fun: Music, food, photos and more will happen before and after the race.

Registration opens March 1, 2026
Early registration is encouraged. Participants who register by the shirt deadline will be guaranteed an official Run Morehead event shirt. Shirts will be cotton unisex, sizes available Adult XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL | Youth S, M, L.

Packet Pickup: Day before Thursday, July 2 -5-7 p.m. at Morehead Police Department 309 W. Main St. across from Walgreens.
Day of Friday, July 3 - 4:30-5:45 p.m. at Battson-Oates Entertainment Area.
*Picking up for family/friends is encouraged with no credentials, paperwork or ID's necessary.

Run Morehead is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Families, youth participants, and first-time runners are welcome.
Both! Participants are welcome to run or walk the 5K course at their own pace.
The race will take place in downtown Morehead, Kentucky. The official start/finish location and course map will be shared closer to race day.
Race-day registration details will be announced closer to the event and may be limited.
Participants who register by the designated shirt deadline will be guaranteed an official Run Morehead event shirt. Limited quantities may be available after the deadline. Participants will also receive a finishers medal.
Yes. Strollers are welcome, and we ask that participants using strollers start toward the back of the field for everyone’s safety.
Well-behaved dogs on a short leash are welcome. Owners are responsible for their pets at all times.
Yes, the 5K will be officially timed by RaceRise.
Free parking options will be available in and around downtown Morehead. Parking details will be posted prior to race day.
Run Morehead will take place rain or shine, unless conditions are deemed unsafe. Any weather-related updates will be shared through the City of Morehead’s official communication channels.

The start and finish lines will be located right in front of the Rowan County Arts Center on Main St.
Portions of Main St. will be closed for the race, don't worry you will still be able to access parking lots from Main, First and Second Streets.
Yes. There will be a water station located around the 1.4 mile mark. Water will also be available at the start/finish.
Many of our downtown community businesses will be open to shop and for restroom access.
