Description
This is an evening racing event in beautiful downtown Mt Sterling, Ky. We will be starting behind the Downtown Athletic Club and winding our way around the streets of Mt Sterling in the early evening. We will end at the new Farmer's Market Pavilion with lights, music and fun. This is an event for all ages and abilities and it is for the best of causes. Orphan Voice is a Christian, holistic child development ministry devoted to orphans, children with special needs and children at risk for trafficking and sexual abuse in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Major outreaches include orphan care, special needs therapy, deaf education, sex trafficking rescue and prevention, family preservation, and medical outreach.
In Vietnam, sex trafficking originates in rural provinces where prevention education is lacking. Young women who are aging out of orphanages in rural areas run a high risk of being trafficked as a result of poverty, inadequate education, and lack of means for independence.
Vietnam is primarily a source country for women, and children trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation. Women and children are often trafficked to surrounding countries such as Cambodia, Laos, China and Thailand. If a victim escapes or is rescued, they often suffer physical and mental health issues and social reintegration problems in their home country due to the stigma of what they have experienced.
Orphan Voice has three programs to help fight trafficking. Two are focused on trafficking prevention, and the third is focused on rehabilitating trafficking victims.
Proceeds from the Enduring Voices 5K and the Enduring Voices Fun Run/Walk will go to Orphan Voice's anti-trafficking programs. Will you join us in our fight against trafficking?
