Firecracker 5K Run/4K Walk

Due to the uncertainty of the weather forecast and unfavorable course conditions, we are postponing the Firecracker 5K/4K race. Stay tuned for the rescheduled date as soon as we are able to determine it. We apologize for the inconvenience. The safety of our participants is always our top concern.

Celebrate summer with a patriotic bang! This race is sure to be a fast one on the flat Renfro Valley course. Proceeds benefit the Mount Vernon Lions Club.

• Top three male and female runners in each of the following age groups: 12-under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+
• Top three fastest male and female walkers

NEW! Student Strides 2026

• ALL students age 4-18 run FREE! No shirt included in registration, but may be added on for additional fee.
• Students who complete at least 7 races will receive a $25 gift card and custom t-shirt at the end of the 2026 series! 
• Students must run or walk to be eligible for awards and incentives.
