All proceeds raised from the West KY FCA & Edward Jones Turkey Trot will be going directly towards scholarships for students to attend the 2021 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Camp, at Western Kentucky University. This is a life changing camp that focuses on how students can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Not only are students mentored by college athletes, they are taught and encouraged to go back to their school campuses and be leaders for Christ.

WEST KY FCA & Edward Jones TURKEY TROT
PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
November 26, 2020 | 2ND & Jefferson @ 7:30 AM
Nearly all registrations are handled online. Last year we had about 40 people sign up on the morning of the race. This year we will still allow race registrations on the morning of the event, but only those made on-line onpersonal cell devices to limit contact.
The packet pickup is planned for Wednesday, Nov 25 from 10am-5 pm at RTS Sports, 4645 Village Square Dr Suite i, Paducah, KY 42001. 75% of the runners picked up their race packets the day before at Registration Pick Up which includes their race bib, shirt and info packet.
There will be separate starting times by the use of a wave start. We will continue to start at 7:30 AM with each wave starting in two minute increments (giving each corral time to move forward). The separate start times space out participants along the course and allow for separation at the start and finish. It does not matter if all the runners start together since each is individually timed for start/finish via chips in the running bib.
STARTING LINE PROCESS
In keeping with norms of much larger races, we will utilize the “corral” system at the start, which will allow for 25 at the starting line to be observed. We will have 6” social distancing starting marks on the road the length of Jefferson Street that will serve as distance markers for loading toward the starting line. Participants will be called to the starting area via a PA system. There is ample room downtown to maintain social distancing within each corral area and runners have an estimated corral start time and corral number with additional instructions in their race packet. Registration software makes the auto assignments of corrals simple. Social distancing will be in place from entering the race corral to the actual starting line. Also, wearing of a mask is required at the start. You can take the mask off right before the race starts (carry the mask in pocket or on wrist while running). Please put mask back on after you come through the chute.
Signage with recommendations about social distancing will be placed in various spots around registration area, start line and finish line.
Each runner will be instructed to report to a designated temperature check station upon arriving downtown on race day. The temperature check will take place before runners start their warm-ups to help ensure an accurate reading. Any runner with a temperature over 100.4 will be scratched from the race and entry fee refunded.
Hand Sanitizer will be positioned throughout the registration, start line and finish area.
We have made the decision to NOT have water along the course to keep touch points at a minimal but we will have water at the finish.
All runners will be expected to move through finish quickly and not gather at the end of the race.
We will have our same awards of hams for grand prizes and pies for first place per age group. Results will be instant. Pies will be available to pick up after the race is over.
Race COVID-19 health and safety rules will be posted on the race website and will be included in each runner race packet.
