Countdown To Race Day
Event Overview
HOWDY Friends! This year our Hillbilly Family has a special announcement..they are expecting a bouncing baby boy (medal) due on April 19th, 2026! Ya'll can get your very own limited edition Hillbilly boy medal by running the a 5K, 10K, or the HALF MARATHON! This will be the 3rd half marathon for the HBDRun and we are so excited! So, pick your distance and join us in beautiful downtown Pikeville at the Pikeville City Park, while you enjoy Kentucky's 2nd largest festival, Hillbilly Days.
The first half of the half (the 10K portion) will all be on pavement/sidewalks and in the downtown area of Pikeville. Those who elect to do the half marathon will get to enjoy some "off-roading" and become a true "Hillbilly", because part of this route will take you through one of our beautiful trails. There will be challenging inclines, but there is no "hiking" type of terrain. The entire hill route is a wide path and is either paved, or gravel.
Each participant will receive a t-shirt or tank top and a UNIQUE Hillbilly family member medal. The year's medal will be the 3rd in the Hillbilly Family medal series to celebrate the addition of the half marathon. Each subsequent year, the medals will be a different member of the Hillbilly family, with the first medal being the Hillbilly Momma, last year's medal was the Hillbilly Dad, and this year is their first Hillbilly baby. More details to come on the medals, so stay tuned. The race will be timed, so hit the pavement at a nice and easy pace, or run yer hiney off!
We will be offering the kids fun run (it's free) and the 2 mile walk for 2025.
Feel free to send any questions or suggestions to our FaceBook Page, Hillbilly Days Run for the Kids.
