Brandon M. Sizemore Memorial Run/Walk for Multiple Myeloma

Join us on Saturday, March 26, 2016 for our inaugural Brandon M. Sizemore Memorial 5K Walk/Run for Multiple Myeloma.

Brandon, at age 28, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer affecting the plasma cells of the bone marrow. Currently, as with many cancers, myeloma has no cure. Brandon, in the course of his battle with cancer received all conventional treatment options, including different chemotherapy regimens, radiation therapy, and two stem-cell transplants. Ultimately, Brandon relied on a clinical trial for continued treatment. On January 22, 2016, Brandon, at the age of 33, sadly passed away due to complications of his cancer.

It is the goal of the Brandon M. Sizemore Memorial 5K to 1) honor and remember the courageous life of Brandon, 2) raise awareness of this rare cancer, and 3) generate funds to donate to research to find a cure for multiple myeloma.

Those who would like to donate, but are unable to physically be present, may choose the virtual race and can complete their own 5K in spirit to honor Brandon or other multiple myeloma patients. Just write on the form "virtual participant" to notate you will not be walking or running.

Registration for the race will be at the City Stage in Prestonsburg from 7:30a.m to 8:45a.m. with the race starting at 9:00 a.m.

Sign-up now til 2/26/26016 for an early bird special rate of $15.00. Regular registration fee will be $20.00 per person if signed up by March 25th. Race day registration will be $25.00.

Registration can be done by one of the following ways:

2) Forms and fee may be dropped off at A+ Rentals in the Highlands Plaza between El Azul restaurant and Rite Aid in Prestonsburg. In Pikeville, forms and fee may be dropped off at Pampered Pets in the Town and Country Shopping Center near Sears.
3) Registration forms and fee may also be given in person to volunteers/coordinators of the event. Feel free to contact Bridgette Sizemore for further help
4) Race Day Registration: Runners/Walkers can register the day of the race at the stage registration table from 7:30a.m. to 8:45a.m. Fee for race day registration is $25.00.

Event t-shirts will be guaranteed to all participants (including "virtual runners") who are pre-registered for the race by March 5th. (Extra shirts will be ordered; however, if you are not pre-registered by March 5th a shirt cannot be guaranteed due to production time). Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female winners in each age group. Age groups are as followed: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 and up.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

At the conclusion of the event and awards presentation, we will have a special ceremony in remembrance of Brandon's birthday - March 23rd!
