Registration for our 2020 race is closed.  We needed to limit our race field size as a safety precaution.  We hope you'll join us for next year's race if you missed out this year.


Join us for the 5th Annual Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial 5K Run/Walk.  The race will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 7:45am at Richmond Centre Mall in Richmond, KY.

Register by October 26th at 12noon to guarantee your shirt size.  Registration will close on October 31st at 12 midnight.



For the November 7th, 2020 Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial 5k we will have two events:


7:45am - Run Only 5K  (Those who can complete 5K in 40 minutes or less)

This Run Only 5k Event will be the event that is chip timed for placing and prizes.  This event is for anyone who feels they can finish the 5k race in under 40 minutes.  Runners will start in small waves to allow for social distance at the start of the race.

8:45am - Jog/Walk 5K (Those who will walk or jog and finish the 5K in more than 40 minutes)

This Jog/Walk 5k Event will have a running clock so you can time yourself but this event will not be for record keeping or have prizes.  We encourage anyone that will want to walk/run as a family or will take longer than 40 minutes to complete the event to register for our Jog/Walk 5k Event.

All current participants - Please email to let us know which event you will be in... if we do not hear from you; you will automatically be registered for the RUN 5k EVENT.

Anyone that is already registered for the event but wishes to participate virtually please just email us your wishes and we will move you to the virtual race category. 


  • Masks will be required prior to and upon completion of both events
  • All participants will need to practice social distancing at all times 
  • Spectators are not allowed to rather at the start/finish line
  • Spectators are encouraged to watch from a distance spread out along the route and if possible stay in their cars and leave a parking space in between immediate families
  • Participants will go off in waves to create social distancing and our run and walk/jog events will both be capped at 200 participants for each event


  • No Onsite Registration (everyone must register online by October 30th at Noon)
  • No Awards Ceremony - Top overall Prizes will be awarded and mailed to top 3 male and top 3 female overall winners
  • Awards and Chip Timing is only for the 7:45am Run 5k Event
  • No Pre-Event Celebrations
    • No Warms Ups
    • No Prayer, National Anthem, or Presenting of the Colors
    • No Gathering or Vendors; After finishing your race we ask that you proceed to your vehicle
  • We will have a DJ for music and announcements
  • We will have a Drive thru packet pick up Tuesday, November 3rd

Proceeds will benefit the Daniel Ellis Foundation which is being established by the family.  This foundation will support and distribute funds to area causes, charities and individuals that Officer Daniel Ellis would have supported.  .

Strollers are allowed but no dogs please.
