Prizes and Swag
There will be a cash prize for first and second place overall finishers of the 100 mile distance. Prize money is based off a percentage of entry fees, so tell your friends, running groups, everybody you know to sign up and knock the pot up a notch; the more entries we have the bigger the prize. Additionally the top 3 finishers, of all distances, will win free entry into next years Herzog 100 (must be distance originally signed up for).
There will be a custom finishers medal for all finishers of the 40 mile and 100k, a belt buckle for 100 mile finishers, as well as a swag bag for all participants
Event standards
We like to test ourselves here on the farm, push our limits and see what we are capable of. We invite both newbies and veterans alike to come test their mettle with us. This isn't going to be your average ultra with an aid station every 3 miles or generous (if any) cut-off times. Although these things attract more runner's, we believe that too much support and safety nets are an impedance to truly testing what we are capable of. Fortitude in the face of failure is when we allow ourselves the most chances to grow. It is in that spirit that we've decided to do ONE fully stocked aid station at the start/finish of each lap. Participants will be allowed a drop bag here as well. There will also be one hydration station along the course, plus the creeks you'll be crossing. In addition there will be cut off times for each distance;
- 40 mile- 12 hours
- 100k- 20 hours
- 100 mile- 30 hours
Participants of the 100k and 100 miler will have the option to drop down in distance during the race. You will not be eligible for any awards, but will receive a finishers medal assuming you meet the cut off time for the shorter distance. Also, you will not receive a DNF for the original distance if you choose to drop down, but can DNF the new distance if you do not meet the cut off
Camping and amenities
We love the Herzog Farm because of the "remoteness" of it. Situated at the edge of Carrsville and Smithland it offers a break from the crowds, traffic and hustle of city life. It's somewhat off the beaten track, as you'll see as you make your way through the winding hills, following state routes to get there.
The closest amenities are located in Salem or Smithland, both are about a 30 minute drive from the farm. This INCLUDES gas stations; so make sure you're not rolling in on empty.
Camping is available on site. There will be water and porta toilets, but no electric hook-ups. The closest developed campground is 16 miles away in Birdsville, KY at the Birdsville Riverside RV Park. There is also ample camping opportunities in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation area in Grand Rivers, KY about 1.25 hours from the Herzog Farm.

We are an all inclusive event and could care less what your race, religion, age, sexuality, or identification is...we're not here to yuck on your yum. That being said, to keep things simple, we will only offer awards to the top 3 finishers of each distance.
- purposeful disrespect of other people and property will be grounds for dismissal from the event and property
- pets are allowed, but not allowed on course unless otherwise noted. owners need to stay in control of them at all times and clean up after them
- LNT ethics should be followed- if you don't know what LNT is, look it up, it'll make you a better person
In an effort to reduce trash and waste, we ask that you bring a reusable cup or bottle for your water both during the race and while camping. We will not be providing paper cups.
