Countdown to Seize the Day Warrior Walk + 5K - Baton Rouge!

Welcome to the Seize the Day Warrior Walk in Baton Rouge!

We are Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana (EAL), the oldest epilepsy organization in the state, dedicated to supporting people living with epilepsy through direct services, education, and advocacy. Since 1977, we have provided essential community services across Louisiana, reaching thousands of individuals impacted by epilepsy. Our mission is to assist those affected by epilepsy within their communities by addressing the broad spectrum of challenges seizures can bring.

We are excited to host our 21st Seize the Day event on Saturday, April 5, 2025. This is our biggest fundraising event, dedicated to supporting people with epilepsy. For over 20 years, we’ve featured a 1-mile run/walk, which is now called the "Warrior Walk." To better align with our mission and to honor the strength and courage of those affected by epilepsy, the Warrior Walk will now be a walk-only event and will not be timed.

In addition, we’re keeping our traditional 5K race, a special part of this event for many years. By participating in either the Warrior Walk or the 5K, you’ll help raise vital funds for our programs and services while enjoying a fun and inclusive atmosphere.

This year, Baton Rouge will offer both the Warrior Walk and the 5K, while other cities will host the Warrior Walk only. This shift will help us expand epilepsy awareness and grow our community support in more Louisiana cities, including Youngsville and New Orleans, in 2025.

Be part of this important event and help us make a difference. Register now and show your support!

*New Contest - Epilepsy Warrior Parasol/Umbrella Decorating
We’re excited to introduce a new feature at our Seize the Day events this year – the Parasol/Umbrella Decorating Contest! This fun and inclusive contest celebrates Louisiana’s tradition of vibrant celebrations while offering practical benefits for our participants.

Focus on Epilepsy Warriors: This year, we are particularly highlighting the umbrellas of our epilepsy warriors. Given Louisiana’s warm temperatures, decorated umbrellas will provide essential shade and comfort. While everyone is welcome to participate and decorate their umbrellas, only the umbrellas of epilepsy warriors will be judged by our committee.

Why the Change? In the past, we had a tent decorating contest, but we wanted to create something that is more inclusive for all teams. While tents are still welcome and can be decorated, the umbrella decorating contest will be the main focus this year. This shift allows us to celebrate the creativity and individuality of our epilepsy warriors while ensuring that everyone can participate in the fun.

Why Participate in the Umbrella Decorating Contest?

  • Celebrate Creativity: Show off your creativity and add a personal touch to your umbrella.

  • Provide Comfort: Help our epilepsy warriors stay cool and shaded with your inventive designs.

  • Honor Individuality: Celebrate the unique spirit of each epilepsy warrior through their decorated umbrella.

  • Join us in making this contest a special highlight of our event. We can’t wait to see your imaginative designs and celebrate our community together!
