Description:

The Denham Springs High School cross country and track and field teams are hosting the second-annual Dog Days of Summer 5k and 1-mile run on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The race will go along historic River Road in Denham Springs and offers runners a beautiful course with lots of shade. We hope to provide a worthwhile run for everyone. All proceeds beyond the administrative costs of the event will be donated to the Denham Springs High School cross country and track and field programs. The race will be officially timed and managed by Cajun Timing. All participants will receive a t-shirt (if registered by Saturday, July 30) and all 5k finishers will receive a custom medal. T-shirts will be available for those who register after Saturday, July 30, while supplies last. We have a maximum of 300 spots available in the 5k race.

Post-Race Festivities:

After the race we will have smoothies, sweet tea, lemonade, water, and jambalaya while supplies last in the pavilion near the finish line.

Registration Fees (Early & Late Fees & dates):

Registration through August 4th, $25 for 1-mile run, $35 for 5k

Packet Pickup (Location, Date & Time):

Denham Springs High School, 1000 N. Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA, 70726, Friday, August 5th, from 3 pm to 6 pm; Race day packet pickup at race site, starting at 6:30 am

1-Mile Age Groups:

5 and under, 6-9, 10-14

5k Age Groups: 

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over

1-Mile Awards:

Gift Certificate to Cavalier House Books and Custom Treat from Wicked Goodness Confections

5k Awards: 

Top Overall Male/Female, Masters Champion (40 & up) Male/Female, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male & Female in each age group

Overall Champions, Masters Champions, and Grandmaster Champions will receive a gift card from Varsity Sports

5k Age Group winners will receive a custom singlet from Varsity Sports

Team Challenge:

We offer a team competition where the team with the most members will be recognized and win a custom cake from Wicked Goodness Confections
