Countdown to Seize the Day-Acadiana

Hello Acadiana!

Welcome to the Seize the Day Warrior Walk - Acadiana! ****NEW LOCATION****

We are Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana (EAL), the oldest epilepsy organization in the state, dedicated to supporting people living with epilepsy through direct services, education, and advocacy. Since 1977, we have provided essential community services across Louisiana, reaching thousands of individuals impacted by epilepsy. Our mission is to assist those affected by epilepsy within their communities by addressing the broad spectrum of challenges seizures can bring.

We are thrilled to host our 3rd Seize the Day Acadiana on September 20, 2026. This event is 1 of 4 fundraising events across the state  dedicated to supporting people with epilepsy. For over 20 years, we’ve featured a 1-mile run/walk, which is now called the "Warrior Walk." To better align with our mission and to honor the strength and courage of those affected by epilepsy, the Warrior Walk will now be a walk-only event and will not be timed.

This year, we’re excited to announce the return of the 5K run, joining our signature 1‑mile Warrior Walk. Our goal is to create a more inclusive and accessible experience, giving participants multiple ways to get involved and support our mission. By offering both distances, we’re able to welcome a wider range of ages, abilities, and fitness levels while continuing to strengthen community engagement across Louisiana.

Whether you’re running for time, walking in honor of someone you love, or joining a team to show your support, there’s a place for you at Seize The Day Acadiana 2026.

Join us in Lafayette and be a part of this inspiring event. Register now and show your support for the epilepsy community!

*New Contest - Epilepsy Warrior Umbrella Decorating
We’re excited to introduce a new feature at our Seize the Day events this year – the Umbrella Decorating Contest! This fun and inclusive contest celebrates Louisiana’s tradition of vibrant celebrations while offering practical benefits for our participants.

Focus on Epilepsy Warriors: This year, we are particularly highlighting the umbrellas of our epilepsy warriors. Given Louisiana’s warm temperatures, decorated umbrellas will provide essential shade and comfort. While everyone is welcome to participate and decorate their umbrellas, only the umbrellas of epilepsy warriors will be judged by our committee.

Why the Change? In the past, we had a tent decorating contest, but we wanted to create something that is more inclusive for all teams. While tents are still welcome and can be decorated, the umbrella decorating contest will be the main focus this year. This shift allows us to celebrate the creativity and individuality of our epilepsy warriors while ensuring that everyone can participate in the fun.

Why Participate in the Umbrella Decorating Contest?

  • Celebrate Creativity: Show off your creativity and add a personal touch to your umbrella.

  • Provide Comfort: Help our epilepsy warriors stay cool and shaded with your inventive designs.

  • Honor Individuality: Celebrate the unique spirit of each epilepsy warrior through their decorated umbrella.

  • Join us in making this contest a special highlight of our event. We can’t wait to see your imaginative designs and celebrate our community together!
