Lake Area Runners Presents 4 for the Fourth!

Date and time: Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 @7:00 am

Location: Police Jury Parking Lot @ the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Gill Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601

Lake Area Runner's hottest race of the year!! Come help us celebrate our nation's independence by running 4 miles for the 4th of July!

This course is flat and fast and will be ran as an out and back along the scenic Lakeshore Drive where you will be able to appreciate our beautiful lakefront.

There will be at least one water stop at the turn around. Be sure to show your patriotism with all the red, white, and blue you can handle in the heat!

When we say it's our hottest race, we mean it literally. So please be sure to hydrate well the day before, during, and after. Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. We want everyone to have a fun and safe race!

We will have refreshing cold drinks, beer, popsicles, and hot dogs for participants at the finish.

Run fast enough and you could score some fireworks if you win in your age group!

***This is the final race of the Triple Crown Series! If you complete the Athlete's Corner 3 Miler, Contraband 5 Miler, and LAR's 4 for the Fourth you will receive a special prize! Prizes will be available for pickup after the 4 Miler. The overall male and female winners will receive free race entries for all of our 2024 races! (This will be calculated using your chip times from all 3 races. You will be notified of your winning once we have finalized everything and determined the champs.)

Registration Fees:

• $40 Early Bird rate: Now - 6/12/23 @ 11:59PM

• $45 Regular rate: 6/13/23 - 7/1/23 @ 11:59PM

• T-shirt guarantee cut off: Monday, 6/12/23 (Be sure to register early to guarantee a race shirt!)

• Registration Closes: Saturday, 7/1/23

• Age based pricing: Registration fees for registrants 65 years or older is discounted. T-shirts are not provided to registrants in this category. If you would like a shirt, purchase a shirt as an "Add-on" before checkout.

• Race Day registration: $50

Refund/Deferral/Transfer Policies:
Refund: Entry fees are non-refundable.

Deferral: You may defer your entry to the next event year for a fee until 15 days prior to the event. You must complete the deferral on your runsignup.com account. Profile -> My Registered Races -> Manage Registration -> Defer Registration.

Transfer: You may transfer your entry to another person for the same year for a fee until 15 days prior to the event. You must complete the transfer on your run signup.com account. Additional fees may apply when completing a transfer. When: Saturday, July 1st, 2023 from 9:30am - 12:30pm

Tuesday, July 4th
Where: parking lot of CCPJ, 1110 Pithon Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601

When: Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 from 6:00am-6:30am

Look for the blue Lake Area Runners tent in the parking lot.

Race Day Schedule:

6:00AM- Packet pickup and race day registration opens
6:30AM- Packet pickup and race day registration closes
6:45AM- Pre race meeting
7:00AM- Race begins
7:45AM- Post race food, beverages, music begins
9:00AM- Approximate time for awards

Group Awards: 

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place fireworks awards will be awarded in 10 year age groups for males and females as follows: 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Weather:

If there is lightning in the area, the race may be delayed, route altered/shortened, or cancelled. If fog present, the visibility will determine if delayed start or altered/shortened route is necessary. Lake Area Runners will make the determination. If race is cancelled due to inclement weather, notifications of cancellation will be posted to the @LakeAreaRunners and @LakeAreaRunnersForum sites on Facebook

Race site setup & cleanup on Tuesday, July 4th - 5:00am-7:00am & 8:00am-11:00am
Hydration Stations and cheer spots on Tuesday, July 4th - 6:30am-10:30am
Post race food and beverage servers Tuesday, July 4th - 7:00am-11:00am
