→ We’re thinking about our New Orleans Track Club members, participants, and volunteers in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Stay strong and resilient, like we have been as a community, time and time again. The virtual New Orleans Pride Run & Walk, along with all associated packet pickups and registration deadlines, have been postponed until after life returns to normal in NOLA..
To give participants flexibility, and to maximize the race's contribution to the PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship Program, we will utilize the following plan:
We have teamed up with our sponsors and partners to commit to an enhanced virtual race experience. We greatly appreciate you spreading the word about this opportunity, gathering your friends and family to compete for the largest team award, and signing up to join us for this great event that supports a very worthy initiative.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail our team at NOTC@runNOTC.org.
The New Orleans Pride Run & Walk benefits the PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship Program, which recognizes outstanding LGBTQ+ students from Louisiana, encourages continuing education for self-identified LGBTQ+ students and allies, and fosters a positive image of LGBTQ+ individuals in society. For more info on the scholarships and application process, click HERE.
Grab your family, friends, coworkers, and club members to sign up as a group to qualify for the Largest Team Award. Each team participant must pre-register online BEFORE midnight on August 30th and select their team affiliation on the drop down menu during sign-up. Add your team name to the drop down list HERE.
Each registered virtual race participant receives a New Orleans Pride Run & Walk t-shirt (pictured). NOTC Family registrations include two shirts. Additional shirts may be purchased during the registration process. Shirts will be distributed during a packet pickup at Varsity Sports Lakeview on a day in the near future. Please sign up early to guarantee your preferred size!
All virtual finishers of the New Orleans Pride Run & Walk receive a medal to commemorate their achievement! The medals will also be distributed with participant shirts during packet pickup at Varsity Sports Lakeview. Stay tuned for dates and times TBA soon!
The New Orleans Pride Run & Walk is an in-person event that is permitted and currently approved to happen on September 4, 2021 at the Crescent Park. In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, we are taking specific precautions to ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and volunteers. The following will take place on event day:
Participants who would like to support the PFLAG Scholarship Program, but are unable to attend the in-person event, may register for the run / walk and pick up their race packet (including finisher medal) during the designated early packet pickup happening in advance of race day. Early packet pickup details will be shared soon.
If you have any questions about this Run & Walk, click the button below.
All New Orleans Track Club race registration fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable under all circumstances, including, but not limited to, cancellation of the event or of your participation, or change in the date, nature, or format of the event. An event may be canceled or changed due to severe weather or other factors that threaten the safety of participants, staff, or volunteers. Race bibs cannot be transferred to another participant.
As promised, all participants registered on or before August 25th, are eligible for a full refund of their registration (minus processing fees). If you wish to receive this refund, please forward your registration confirmation and a note requesting the refund to NOTC@runNOTC.org before midnight this Monday, August 30th.
The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, the New Orleans Track Club encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of this race.
At our races, NOTC demonstrates our commitment to an inclusive athletic experience by welcoming race participants, volunteers and guests to use single-occupancy gender-neutral (unisex) facilities; or use of multiple-occupant, gender-neutral restroom facilities with lockable single occupant stalls.
The New Orleans Track Club strongly recommends against the participation of baby strollers/joggers in road races. The reason for this recommendation is that the inclusion of strollers in races increases the potential for injury to race participants and children. The NOTC has no objection to and does not discourage the safe and prudent use of strollers or baby joggers in individual training situations. If allowed in a race, stroller or baby joggers or similar devices should be started in the back of the runners and walkers.
Dogs should not be brought to this event for the safety of all participants and volunteers.
The New Orleans Track Club is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants at our running and walking events. With the current Orleans Parish regulations regarding COVID-19, we are prepared to follow all safety rules
For the New Orleans Pride Run & Walk, we limited the participant field size to less than 500, far fewer than 50% of Crescent Park’s capacity. Per the city's current regulations, we are well under the threshold that would provide our participants the ability to easily social distance.
The NOTC regularly confirmed with the City of New Orleans and Police Department that we could proceed with the in-person event as scheduled. On Monday, August 23rd, we had confirmation we could hold our event based on the current COVID guidelines, prompting us to send an email urging registration. Unfortunately, we received a call from the city on the morning of August 25th informing us that the in-person New Orleans Pride Run & Walk on September 4th must be cancelled.
We are extremely disappointed, to say the least. However, we are very committed to continuing our history of contributing to the PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship program. To maximize this contribution to PFLAG, we have finalized these options:
The 2021 New Orleans Pride Run & Walk will be converted to a VIRTUAL event. All currently registered participants will automatically be converted to virtual runners & walkers. This virtual event can be run at a time and location of your choosing. Registration will continue on the race website for the virtual New Orleans Pride Run & Walk event. Every registration will include the participant shirt, race bib number, and finisher medal to be picked up in-person.
As promised, all participants registered on or before today, August 25th, may choose to receive a full refund of their registration (minus processing fees). If you wish to receive this refund and be removed from the virtual event, please forward your registration confirmation and a note requesting the refund to NOTC@runNOTC.org before midnight this Monday, August 30th.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and continued resiliency through this very fluid and trying time.
