A Walk for Every Sense

Did you know that everyone has sensory needs? Our brains are always taking in information from what we see, hear, touch, smell, taste, and how we move. The fun part is that everyone processes sensory input a little differently. Some people may be more sensitive to certain sights or sounds (hypersensitive), while others may seek out more movement, texture, or activity (hyposensitive).

At Systems Unlimited, understanding and supporting sensory needs is an important part of the services we provide. That is why the 1 Mile Sensory Walk was created to be welcoming, meaningful, and fun for all participants. It is a chance to celebrate the many ways people experience the world and to build a route where everyone can feel included, supported, and encouraged.

Enjoy a relaxed, accessible walk with sensory stations placed throughout the route. Each station is designed to invite participants to explore, pause, and engage their senses along the way. Move at your own pace, take in the experience, and celebrate the pride of reaching the finish line!

A Scenic 5K Experience

Choosing the 5K means you get the best of both worlds! Because the 5K and 1-Mile routes share part of the same path, you’ll still get to enjoy the sensory stations featured along the 1-Mile route. After that, the 5K opens up into a station-free stretch where you can find your rhythm, focus on your run, and take in the beautiful scenery Terry Trueblood has to offer.

This route is untimed, so the goal is simple: enjoy yourself! Want to pause for a great view? Go for it. Chasing a personal record with your running app? We’ll be cheering you on all the way to the finish line. However you choose to move, we’re excited to have you out there!

Once you finish your run, you will recieve a 5K finisher medal designed by a person recieving services from Systems Unlimited. This year's medal was designed by Aaron from Monticello.
