Helping us save the Light

The Gay Head 10K began in 2013 as part of the Town of Aquinnah's efforts to save our beloved Gay Head Lighthouse from falling into the sea. Due to coastal erosion of the famous Gay Head Cliffs, the iconic structure was perilously close to the edge. The Lighthouse  was safely moved 129 feet away from the Cliff edge in 2015, and although the move was a success, funds are still needed for maintenance and to complete the restoration.Image

During the past two years structural repairs to the masonry have been completed to assure the integrity of the supporting structure.  The next phase of the restoration will repair the deteriorating metal work on the lantern level, address the corroded and rusted frames that hold the glass, as well as replace the cracked glass panels, and make repairs to the copper roof. We are in need of approximately $300,000 to complete this next phase. Thank you for your support!

Tour the Lighthouse, enjoy the food

Did you know that racers are invited to tour the Gay Head Lighthouse at no charge on the day of the race?

And be sure to stick around after you run for our famous After the Race Feast, with delicious food supplied by local Aquinnah merchants.
