Description

The Pete Frates 5K honors the late Pete Frates, who was internationally recognized as an advocate for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) awareness and education. Prior to succumbing to ALS, Pete successfully helped raise $225 million globally to #strikeoutals through the ice bucket challenge.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2022 Pete Frates 5K! We are happy to announce that the date is set for the 2023 race: Sunday, November 5th. We hope to see you all there! All proceeds from this year’s race will be given to the Mass General ALS House Call Program at the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS, which helps to change the course of medical care planning and improve outcomes for people with ALS by bringing patient care into the home.

Their teams visit patients and caregivers in the comfort of their homes with the goal of improving patient care while reducing the burden of accessibility. They carefully coordinate care and design home visit schedules to integrate seamlessly with the care provided at the ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic at Mass General. The ALS House Call Program draws from the best of their existing approaches, their aspirations for novel patient-centered care delivery, and their fundamental belief that the bedrock of clinical care is human connection.

We invite you to run, walk, or wheel the race:

Date: Sunday, November 5th
Time: 10:00am
Location: Lynch Park, Beverly, MA

Long-sleeved t-shirts will be provided to all participants who sign up by 5PM on Friday, October 13th.

Participants can pick up their bib and event t-shirt on November 3rd or November 4th (events to be announced). Follow us on Facebook or subscribe to our email updates.

The AMG Charitable Foundation is proud to once again be organizing the Pete Frates 5K. The Foundation donates to a variety of non-profit organizations and community programs globally, with a focus on supporting educational, cultural, environmental, health, social, and other charitable initiatives in communities where AMG teammates live and work. In 2018, AMG was a cornerstone donor in helping to establish the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS, with the goal of advancing scientific research in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and developing effective treatments for people with ALS. AMG’s investment in the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS has already helped to fund a number of research breakthroughs, broaden the availability of treatments globally, and attract talented scientists to the ALS field.
