Description

Welcome to Boston Friends of Safe Passage -- supporting a progressive and empowering education for 500+ students, ages 4 - 20, and their families from the community of the Guatemala City garbage dump. Safe Passage has grown from a simple drop-in center in 1999 to an independent school including Pre-K, Primary grades with an Expeditionary Learning curriculum, middle school (opening in January 2019), and an after-school reinforcement program for high school students.

Join us for our 10th Annual Esperanza 5K Race and Fun Walk on Saturday, September 22, 8:30 - 11:00 am at Artesani Park along the Charles River in Boston. Help us raise $30,000 to support the Safe Passage middle school's science and technology program. To break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala City, these students need a modern education, with STEM skills, English, computer literacy, persistence and confidence. Safe Passage partners with students, families, businesses, and the broader community to provide these life-changing, skill-building opportunities.

A Huge Shout OUT to our Esperanza Sponsors (to date): State Street, Eaton Vance Management, Grand Circle Foundation, Weymouth Rotary Club, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the Howe Family, Schmidt Family, Sherman Family, Susan and Westy Egmont, Elliott Place and Lucy Sagansky, Judi Berman, Susanna Place and Scott Stoll, ...If your company, family, or community organization would like to sponsor the race, please contact us at BostonFriends@safepassage.org.

It's also super easy to create your own Race Group/Team and/or become an Individual or Team Fundraiser on this site. Any questions, let us know! BostonFriends@safepassage.org.
