Description
On December 17, 2016, our world will shift from the eight million strong New York City to a twenty-four ft boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. For two and a half months, we will compete in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing from the Canary Islands to Antigua & Barbuda. Called "the world's toughest row", the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will push us to our physical and mental limits, but this race isn’t just a challenge to be the fastest, strongest and most capable boat across the Atlantic Ocean. For us, two brothers hailing from the United States, this race is a challenge for everyone who's followed a dream, a challenge to give back, and an opportunity to help others follow their dreams.
Roughly four years ago, our close friend Jeremy Hill passed away at the age of 43 after a prolonged battle with melanoma. He was a person of true character and generosity who was always giving back, which is why we've chosen to row for one of Jeremy's favorite organizations, The Samfund. The Samfund supports young adults who are recovering from the financial burden of cancer treatment, and they provide a permanent grant in Jeremy's name every year. Dollars raised from our row will directly benefit The Samfund and The Jeremy Hill Memorial Grant.
To complete our trip, we must first cover $100,000 in race fees, boat building, first aid, rowing certification, and more. We ask that you support us in this venture by donating today.
Everything we need – we will have to take.
Every mile we row – we will have to pull.
Every challenge we have – we will have to overcome.
The challenge starts now.
- John and Kurt
