Girlygirl will be going virtual this year. We have decided to look at this as an opportunity to take girlygirl in a whole new direction for 2020.
We are challenging our girlygirl family to find a 5K route in your neighborhood and walk or run it with your family. Grab some friends and you can do it while staying physically distant.
DATES FOR RUN/WALK: SEPTEMBER 1-SEPTEMBER 30.
DATES FOR FUNDRAISING: NOW UNTIL OCTOBER 9. HIGHEST FUNDRAISING TEAMS WILL BE ANNOUNCED OCTOBER 16.
You can post your photos and your videos to our Facebook page and to our runsignup page.
This research affects women around the world, not just New England!
That is why we decided to put forth a NEW CHALLENGE for 2020.
Ovarian Cancer does not go into quarantine.
It does not stay 6 feet apart from the women in our lives.
We still need to raise money so that Dr. Matulonis and her team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute can continue their lifesaving research.
Our GGP Family has always risen to the occasion—we know you will take this and run with it!!
HIGHEST FUNDRAISING TEAMS will be recognized once again this year. We will recognize our highest fundraising team with their team name on our GGP Rock. We will have extra awards this year for our TOP FIVE highest fundraising teams. Due to COVID restrictions, we are not sure we will be able to visit Dana-Farber for a VIP Night so we will have awards to send out to your teams.
AWARDS GIVEN TO THE TOP FIVE VIRTUAL EVENTS THAT ARE FARTHEST AWAY FROM DANA-FARBER CANCER INSTITUTE.
Everyone has a relative or an acquaintance in another part of the country or another part of the world.
Let’s see how far we can spread awareness in 2020!!
1. Contact your friend or family in another state or country.
2. Send them the link to our website and our registration and donation pages.
3. Encourage them to hold a physically distant walk or run through their community. Encourage them to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer.
4. Encourage them to post their run/walk to our Facebook and Runsignup page.
girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. started simply as a discussion between two friends over a cup of coffee in March of 2009. Jill Di-Tommaso was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February of 2008. She and her wonderful friend, Laura Smith, have been dedicated to raising awareness about this devastating disease.
Together they founded the girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. 5K Run/Walk for Ovarian Cancer to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for the research of a pre-screening tool for ovarian cancer.
Jill passed away on December 27, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. We need your help now more than ever!
Over the last 10 years, we are proud to say that we have donated over $900,000 to the Ovarian Research Fund directed by Dr. Ursula Matulonis at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Ursula Matulonis is the medical director of gynecologic oncology.
C'mon out boys! Manly men run and walk with us for all the women in their lives.
Grab everyone you know and fight for your mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and nieces! The time is now!!
Craigville Beach is a gorgeous location with more room for girlygirl shenanigans! There is more parking available right at our race location. We thank the Town of Barnstable for welcoming us and making us comfortable in our new location.
Our 5k is a mostly flat course that makes a right out of Craigville Beach parking lot. Follow Craigville Beach Road past Covell's Beach and make a left onto Centerville Avenue. You will then make a left onto Jackson Avenue. Make a right to get back onto Craigville beach Road. Get ready to pass the race start and all of your girlygirl fans as they make noise for you to continue on to Long Beach Road. There will be a turnaround at the end of Long Beach Road and you can join us back at Craigville Beach parking lot for the finish.
There will be a water stop near Covell's Beach - which is about halfway through the course. You will enjoy the thrill of passing our parking lot and seeing all of the other girlygirl runners and walkers as you loop back on the course. This will create incredible energy and support. Isn't that what this day is all about?!
