This November, wobble with Run Club of Malden before you gobble with family and friends! Join us for our annual Thanksgiving event and help raise money for Bread of Life, a local nonprofit that provides free food to economically struggling and disadvantaged families, individuals, youth, and senior citizens in Boston's metro-north region. 

Wobble Before You Gobble 2023 includes a 5K race and a kids' dash (best for ages 10 and under). Bring the family and strengthen our community by contributing to a great cause! 5K participants who register before November 1 will be guaranteed their choice size for a T-shirt, and all participants will get a PIE to celebrate their race! 

The event starts and ends next to 82 Summer Street. Free parking is available in the garage next to the building. On-street parking is also available in the surrounding area. The kids' dash will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10 a.m.

How Your Participation Helps

All donations will go to Bread of Life. Our goal is to exceed last year's donation total of $1,600. If you'd like to contribute, please visit the Donate page or enter a dollar amount during the registration process.

A collection bin will also be on site for donating food (unopened and unexpired) and other items, such as pasta sauce, cereal, canned vegetables, toothpaste, and socks. Visit Bread of Life's website for a full list of suggestions.

Race Day Reminders

BIB PICK UP DETAILS
Participants have two opportunities to pick up their bib and swag bag before race day. We encourage early bib pick up to avoid lines on race day! 
Bib pick-up will be available at the following times and locations:

  • Friday, November 17, from 5-7pm at Marathon Sports Melrose (401 Main St, Melrose MA 02176)
  • Saturday, November 18, from 2-4pm at Faces Brewing Co (50 Pleasant St, Malden MA 02148)
  • Sunday, November 19, from 8:30am - 9:45am at the registration tent (82 Summer Street, Malden MA 02148)
  • Runners will receive an email on Friday 11/17 with a unique QR code. Please have this QR code ready when you arrive to bib pick up. If you are picking up bibs on behalf of others, please ask them to forward their QR code email to you.

Note that the first 150 registered 5K runners will receive a t-shirt with their registration!

RACE DAY REGISTRATION
Race day registration will be available until 9:45 am at the registration tent located at 82 Summer Street.

STARTING TIMES
The Kids' Dash will begin at 9:30am in front of the Malden District Court, 89 Pleasant Street, Malden. Kids' Dash participants should gather behind the registration tent by 9:30am. 

The 5K will begin at 10:00am in front of Bikeeny Caffe at 62 Summer Street.

PARKING
There is plenty of free parking in Malden Center, including garages at 7 Jackson Street and 170 Centre Street and a parking lot adjacent to 75 Pleasant Street. Parking meters are not in effect in the City of Malden on Sundays.

Malden Center is approximately a 5 minute walk to the registration area.

Please do not park in the neighborhood streets adjacent to the registration area.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The start/finish line is less than 0.25 miles from the Malden Center Orange Line stop.

RESTROOMS
Limited port-a-potties will be available at the registration area. Participants are also welcome to use the restroom at Bikeeny Caffe, located at 62 Summer Street.

POST-RACE PARTY
All participants are welcome to join us at Faces Brewing Co, 50 Pleasant Street, Malden, beginning at 11:00am for a post-race celebration. All registered runners (21+) will receive one free beer, compliments of Faces. Faces is a full-serve restaurant, all ages welcome, and a full Sunday brunch menu will be available for purchase. 

RACE COURSE AND DETAILS

Note that the Kids' Dash will be approximately 200 meters long (~half a loop of a track).

POST-RACE SURVEY
Please check your email in the days following the race for a short post-race survey. This is our first official road race, and we REALLY want your feedback to make this the best race possible. If you complete the survey, you’ll be entered to win a gift certificate for the Healthy Running program at Spaulding Rehab, a two-visit program valued at $175. Like I said, we REALLY want your feedback.

RACE PHOTOS
Event photos will be shared via @RCMalden on Instagram and Facebook in the days following the event. If you take any photos, post online and tag RCMalden!

FOOD DRIVE
There will be a donation bin available on race day morning for donations of canned or dry goods to Bread of Life. They are in particular need of instant potatoes and dry cereal. Please do not bring any perishable items.
