UPDATE TO THE 2021 Wine Run Date
We have been working with the State of MA and Westport River Vineyard for the last many months now to host this event. While the State is starting to make some headway in opening up, there is still no formal timeline for when events such as this will be allowed to take place. While we do anticipate them making some announcements soon, we are nearing a point where we may not have enough time to host the event as it should be. Even if road races are allowed back in May or June, this type of event may not be available to us in May - and we want to be able to provide the most memorable event for you and your fellow runners. We know it isn’t just about the running, but your ability to gather after the run, enjoy a glass of wine with your friends, music and some great local food. This is a “social gathering” at its core.
To that end, rather than postponing the event to later in June when we still have no clear definition as to how we will be allowed to gather socially, we are going with a safer date. We have worked with the Vineyard to move the event to Saturday, October 2, when we know that we will be in a much better place for a social event of this nature. If Boston can have 20,000 runners the following weekend, 500 Wine Runners in Westport should be a whole lot easier.
What does this mean for you? If you are a current registrant, we will just be moving the date of the event and your registration to this new date. No further action is needed. This race does sell out every year as we have limited space available at the Vineyard, so this will secure your spot for the Fall race, when we anticipate a much more traditional event.
If you do not wish to attend in October, you can give up your bib and when someone on the waitlist accepts your bib, you will be issued a refund. The deadline to opt for this conditional refund is May 21, 2021.
To give up your bib, please follow these steps:
Again, we are so sorry about this situation. Our hearts are broken for sure. However, we know this is likely for the best, not only for safety reasons but mostly as we know that we can create a much better event for you in October when hopefully all this is behind us.
Please stay safe in the interim and we look forward to hosting you in the Fall.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This is an over 21 event - an ID will be required when picking up your registration materials.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 401.427.7764
Please Note: The Wine Run will be happening rain or shine. Because of the logistics of planning for a race of this size, we cannot offer refunds for any reason. In the event that weather is severe enough to create an unsafe environment for participants, organizers will cancel the event with no refunds issued.
