Details: We're back to our original time frame for the Black Cat 10 & 20 Miler for those in preparation for the Boston Marathon in April or just aiming for that Winter race goal. Participants can choose from a 10 or 20 mile distance, those who choose the 20, will have a 4 hour time cap to complete the 20 mile distance. The course will offer aid stations every 1.5-2 miles and there will be a ton of cheerful volunteers on the course. Participants will receive an epic custom finisher medal that will be a nice addition to anyone's medal collection. The event attracts close to 500+ runners, including elites to beginners traveling from all over the Country. We promise running through the historic streets of the Witch City & scenic Marblehead will make these miles fly by! The event will start and finish from the heart of downtown Salem, MA with pre/post race festivities happening at our host hotel, the Salem Waterfront & Suites.

Saturday Pre Race Pickup 3-6PM at B&S Headquarters, 45 Congress Street, Dock 19/20 Shetland Park, Salem MA (GPS: 90 Leavitt St, Salem MA) and enter Shetland Park at end of street, veer left in the parking lot and look for Dock 19/20 where the stairs are.
Race Day: Starting at 6:45AM inside the ballroom at the Waterfront Hotel
Swag: Custom long sleeve shirts and personalized bibs will be provided to participants pre-registered by March 3rd. All participants will receive an event finishers medal upon completion of the event.
Course: Both the 10 and 20 will start at the same time. The 20 Mile is two loops of the 10 mile route. Visit http://www.high5em.com/black-cat-10-20-miler/ for course 2022 course maps.
Course Time Cap: 4 hour time cap beginning at 8AM. **Sunshine start at 7AM will be made available for only 20 milers who are unsure whether they’ll finish within the 4 hour time slot. This will be communicated through the athlete email that will be emailed to you and posted on Wednesday, March 30th.
Course Details (Water Stations and Bathrooms):
The course will have a Water Station approx. every 1.5-2 miles. Aid stations will have either Gatorade or Water, sometimes both. At the turn around fuel station at located at the VFW Post on West Shore Dr, there will be Gu’s, petroleum jelly, and bathrooms. **Note, water stations will not be setup until 8AM so those participating in the 6AM sunshine start, should be equipped with nutrition/fuel for the beginning portion of the course.
Dogs/Strollers: We do welcome dogs and strollers. We do ask that you line up in the back at the start line. Dogs must be leashed at all times and are not allowed in the hotel.
Bag Drop: Will be available inside the hotel in a separate room(to the left of the lobby) The room will be locked and unattended from 8AM-9AM. All items must be picked up between 9AM and Noon.
Parking: Plenty of street parking. There is a garage located across from the hotel on the corner of Congress/Derby Street. There is also parking permitted in Shetland Park.

$700 Cash Purse for the Overall Top M/F Finishers in each race (10, 20)
1st place M/F in each distance: $175

Post Race Festivities: Food & drinks will be provided by the Waterfront Hotel inside the ballroom. Hot Coffee, soups, breakfast items and more will be complimentary. There will be a cash bar setup as well. We encourage you to hang around afterwards to explore downtown Salem where there are several restaurants, bars, cafes and boutique shops that are worth checking out. If you’re looking for breakfast or a post run beverage we recommend visiting Brothers Taverna or The Derby!! Just show them your medal, bib or shirt and they’ll take 10% off your food bill!

Race Refunds & Event Cancellations: We understand life happens and things may come up. We’ve implemented a defer and transfer policy for FREE up to a certain date for all B&S events. Refunds and transfers/deferments made after said date will incur a small fee for administration purposes. In the case of event cancellation due to public safety, inclement weather or some other unforeseen power at be, the event will become virtual.
