Description

Ready, Set, SNIFF! 5K Race and 1-Mile Walk at the 19th annual BARCStoberfest helps to save homeless animals at BARCS animal shelter. At BARCStoberfest, you can run or walk as a team with your four-legged friend, just as yourself or with your fundraising teammates. Here's how you do it:

5K Race: Participants in the 5K must register through Runsignup.org by clicking register now above. The race fee is $50, which also includes an ultra-soft commemorative T-shirt, a doggie bandana, and a free drink in the dog-friendly beer garden.

1-Mile Walk: Participants must first register on the BARCStoberfest site and create a fundraising page. Collect or donate at least $50 to take part in the walk. You must meet the $50 minimum fundraising requirement by the morning of the event. Walkers also receive an ultra-soft T-shirt, a doggie bandana, and a free drink in the dog-friendly beer garden.

We are asking all runners and walkers to create a personal fundraising page. Your fundraising efforts will help us to care for the over 11,000 animals that come to BARCS each year. As Maryland's largest shelter, we could not help these animals—many of which are sick, injured and require urgent care—without your help.

ENTRY FEES

1-Mile Walkers: Raise or donate at least $50 on your personal fundraising page and you are automatically signed-up to participate in the walk!

5K Runners:
$50 per runner
$55 per 5K runner on Race Day

You must register one human per dog! No retractable leashes can be used during the event.

There are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event.

BENEFICIARY

The most powerful wish in an animal shelter comes from such a tiny word... "home." At BARCS, the search for a home is everything - for every neglected cat or dog given up by its family, every kitten and puppy born into an already overpopulated world - home is the ultimate hope.

BARCS is an open-admission shelter, granting refuge to every abandoned, neglected, abused, lost or surrendered animal that comes through our door. A staggering 30 or more animals are surrendered to BARCS every day. No matter what the circumstance, we do not turn away any animal in need of shelter, food, medical care and a loving touch. Yearly, this equates to more than 11,000 dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, and even wildlife and exotic animals that need care and placement.

It is thanks to the generosity from the dedicated friends of BARCS that thousands of abandoned animals are able to leave as cherished pets for their forever homes each year. There are so many suffering, neglected and abandoned pets in Baltimore that still need your help. BARCS strives to save all healthy and treatable animals, but we can only accomplish this goal with your help. Every dollar raised from the BARCStoberfest 5K goes directly towards caring for Baltimore's animals in need.
