Description

After submitting a detailed race plan to Harford County, and based on the latest guidance from Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, we are very excited to announce that we have been approved to hold the Moonlight 5k Presented by Brooks as an in-person event!

Registration will reopen on Saturday, June 27th at 12:01 AM!

Summer vibes only!  The Moonlight 5K presented by Brooks is the best way to spend a summer evening. This popular family-friendly event includes a glow in the dark finishers medal, glow bracelets available on race day, and great premiums from Brooks! Costumes and colorful clothing are encouraged!

Race Details

Our entire team has been strategizing on how we can execute a safe event, and we want to share our plan with you. As always, safety is our #1 priority, and now more than ever, the success and ability to hold events in the coming months will be dependent on everyone doing their part. In order to participant you will be required "sign off" (via your RunSignUp registration) that you have read and agreed to abide by the entire set of race protocols here. A few highlights are as follows:

  1. All race staff will wear face coverings for the duration of the event, and employees in public-facing positions will wear gloves. Runners will not be required to wear masks while running, but will be encouraged to wear a mask before and after the race while in the area.
  2. Race registration for the in-person event (normally capped at 500) will be limited to 250 people. The virtual event can accommodate another 300 runners.
  3. All registrants will receive emails 10 days prior to the race, and 5 days prior to the race, reminding runners who feel ill or believe they may have come in contact with someone exposed to COVID-19 to stay home. Runners will be given the option to defer their race registration to 2021.
  4. Packets will be available curbside at Charm City Run Bel Air on Friday, July 17th, as well as on race day at the lower Equestrian Center pavilion. Race day pickup will be “contactless” and self-serve with individually bagged packets arranged in a controlled area.
  5. You will be asked to select a 10-minute starting window between 7 PM and 8:30 PM, which will be your designated time to report to the starting line. Runners and walkers will stage by wave (25 people per wave) in the upper Equestrian Center pavilion, and be directed by race staff to begin any time during that 10-minute period. At no point will a crowd be allowed to gather before or after the race.
  6. Spectators are not allowed to gather at the start/finish line. We ask that only registered runners and walkers (with the exception of minors) attend the event in order to minimize the number of people in the area at any given time.
  7. Results will be posted online, and winners can pick up their award at Charm City Run Bel Air anytime beginning on Sunday.
  8. Due to current guidelines on large gatherings and social distancing, and in order to execute this event with a smaller field size and additional precautionary measures, we have had to eliminate the post-race party from the event. Participants will receive a Brooks tech shirt (cotton shirt for youth sizes), 2020 finisher medal, and glow sticks. There will be no food or beer in 2020 - we are just as sad as you are.
  9. Anyone not abiding by the protocols outlined in our race plan will be given a friendly reminder, and then asked to leave if the situation is not corrected. We will not jeopardize the safety and well-being of our staff and fellow participants - it is your responsibility to read the guidelines and follow them!

Again, the full race procedures can be viewed here.
