This Swim competition has three distances (plus options to combine events for longer distance). Event takes place at Lake Royer, at Fort Ritchie in Cascade, MD…..just 20 minutes from Frederick, MD and Hagerstown, MD, and 90 minutes from Baltimore and DC. Fort Ritchie is a private residential and commercial community. The property is a beautiful venue for multisport racing and will also host the Fort Ritchie Duathlon in May and the Fort Ritchie Triathlon in August. Water temp is usually between 65 and 72 degrees. Wetsuits will be allowed with water temps below 78.1 degrees.

Swim Course: The swim course will be in Lake Royer and will be a 750 meter course.
750 meter race: complete one lap
1500 meter race: complete two laps
2250 meter race: complete three laps
Competitors will exit the water after each lap and will run along the beach, then down a pier, and jump back into the water off the pier to start their next lap.
Start: The first race will be the 750 meter event. The second race is the 1500 meter swim. The third and final swim will be 2250 meters. Each race will begin as scheduled, however swimmers who have not completed their event before the next race begins will be allowed to finish and will not be pulled from the water. This will be an in water start, wave format. You can combine events! You are eligible for awards for each individual event you compete in but will only get one swag bag. All three events combined is a total of 4,500 meters (2.8 miles). Each race will be allowed a 10 minute warm up near the start area.
Timing: This event will be professionally chip timed! We will be providing race day results at our results kiosk immediately after you finish your race. We will also provide a web link to results that you can share with your family and friends so they can follow your race on their web devices.
Course Support: We will have water and sport drink at the finish line. We will also have food items including Jersey Mike’s at the finish line for volunteers and participants only.

The award categories are the same for each event: 750 Meter, 1500 Meter and 2250 Meter.
Overall Male and Female (3 deep)
Age Groups: 16 and under, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ (3 deep)
Age based on your age as of race day.
Participants doing the combined swims are eligible for awards for each individual event they swim.
Awards will be handed out at the awards ceremony following the race. No award will be mailed automatically. For a fee of $15, we will mail your award upon your request.
Event Rules: All must wear the provided swim cap with bib # written on the cap. Wetsuits will be allowed if water temps are below 78.1 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended during May since water temperatures are usually in the 60’s. Fins are not permitted. Athletes that do not complete the course must visit race officials at the finish line to check in and return their timing chip. If you do not complete your event before the next race starts you will be allowed to finish and will not be pulled from the water.
